About The Position

The Director of Strategic Sourcing at Austal USA is responsible for leading supplier negotiations and developing strategies to manage the supply chain effectively. This role involves building a scalable and leveraged supply base to support world-class shipbuilding operations. The director will work closely with the VP of Supply Chain and other business leaders to create mutually beneficial partnerships with suppliers, drive cost reduction strategies, and ensure alignment with business needs.

Requirements

• 12+ years of strategic supplier management and commercial/DOD supply chain experience.
• Functional experience in finance and operations, understanding Supply Chain's impact on P&L.
• Bachelor's Degree in related areas; Master's Degree preferred.
• CPSM certification preferred.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Metrics and data-driven approach to problem-solving.
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret contracts specifications.
• Demonstrated Lean/Six Sigma/Productivity experience.

Responsibilities

• Develop a strategic supplier portfolio in collaboration with the VP Supply Chain and other leaders.
• Build a cost-out strategy based on market conditions and inflation.
• Capture ship program supplier needs and develop negotiation strategies at the commodity level.
• Generate a competitive process for Master Commodities and Service needs to drive lower costs.
• Ensure alignment of Supply Chain with Business Development, Programs, and Engineering.
• Lead a results-driven team in strategic quoting and master supply/service agreements.
• Implement technology for efficiency and cost-saving opportunities.
• Act as a Compliance Champion and promote a culture of compliance.
