About The Position

The Director of Strategic Gifts (DSG)supports the vision and strategy for Planned Parenthood of Montana’s (PPMT) development program. They provide leadership, strategic direction, and manage the execution of PPMT’s grants portfolio and planned giving program, as well as supporting a major donor portfolio. The DSG is a member of PPMT’s senior leadership team and reports directly to the Chief Development Officer (CDO).

Requirements

  • Demonstrated success in working both independently and as a team member.
  • Demonstrated ability to understand the needs and interests of donors.
  • Proven track record of soliciting major gifts from individuals and foundations.
  • Ability to manage and track multiple prospects and donors simultaneously.
  • Discretion in handling confidential information relating to the giving history and backgrounds of donors/prospects.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and listening skills.
  • Attention to detail and strong project management skills.
  • Staff and volunteer supervisory experience.
  • Demonstrated experience with Raiser’s Edge or similar fundraising data platforms.
  • Advanced Microsoft Office Suite skills.
  • Experience tracking and prioritizing multiple projects at a time.
  • Excellent leadership, organizational, supervisory, and healthcare financial management skills.
  • Ability to effectively motivate a diverse staff, including volunteers.
  • Ability to effectively lead and work as a team member.
  • Computer skills including knowledge of clinic management software, electronic communications, and use of management information systems as a management tool.
  • Willingness to participate in all levels of operations to assure maximal performance of the health center.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends.
  • Valid MT driver’s license, access to personal transportation, and proof of automotive insurance.
  • Commitment to the mission and vision of PPMT.
  • Understands the financial aspects of our business and maintains a focus on cost-effectiveness and stewardship.
  • Supports, cooperates with, and implements specific procedures and programs for safety and security, confidentiality, quality assurance, compliance with current laws and regulations including HIPAA and mandated reporting, and training.
  • Follows up as appropriate with supervisor, co-workers, and customers regarding reported complaints, problems, and concerns.
  • Promotes positive public image and relations of PPMT.
  • Completes requirements for acceptable attendance and timeliness to work
  • Performs other work duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

  • Develops strategy and provides oversight for PPMT’s foundation portfolio and planned giving program.
  • Responsible for raising $1+ million annually.
  • Manages a portfolio of 70+ major gifts donors and/or charitable foundations.
  • Works in close collaboration with the CDO and Director of Development (DOD) to ensure success of fundraising goals and objectives, actively contributes to strategy for annual and campaign giving, and works as a part of a team to manage and support the CEO’s relationship with the donors in the CEO’s portfolio.
  • Provides leadership and consultation as a member of the Leadership Team across the organization to identify and implement policies, procedures, actions, interventions, and tactics that advance PPMT’s work and meet our strategic and operational goals.
  • Oversees implementation and coordination of specific development activities including planned giving, and corporate and foundation giving. Works as a part of a team to support additional development activities such as major donor work, event planning, and fundraising for PPMT’s ancillary organizations.
  • Represents the organization at meetings and other public events as appropriate.
  • Participates in Board Development Committee meetings.
  • Helps create and steward a culture of philanthropy across the affiliate.
