About The Position

As Director of Strategic Finance & Investor Relations, you will operate at the intersection of operations, capital markets, and executive strategy. Reporting to the CEO and CFO, you will shape how Formic translates performance into financial narrative, capital positioning, and long-term value creation. You will rebuild and own the company’s core operating model, define the metrics that matter, and ensure Formic’s financial architecture supports both growth and durability. You will play a central role in capital formation across equity and debt, while serving as a trusted partner in board communication and investor engagement. This is a high-ownership leadership role in an early-stage, high-growth environment. You will not simply report results. You will define how results are measured, interpreted, and communicated to the market.

Requirements

  • Direct experience engaging institutional equity investors and capital partners
  • Demonstrated experience supporting early-stage or growth-stage fundraising processes
  • Strong exposure to capital markets and debt structuring; securitization experience is a plus
  • Exceptional financial modeling skills, with the ability to build and refine operating models from first principles
  • Experience preparing board-facing materials and partnering closely with executive leadership
  • Strong understanding of asset-heavy, hardware-enabled, or recurring revenue business models
  • Ability to translate complex operational performance into clear financial insight and investor-facing narrative
  • Strong executive presence, independent judgment, and comfort operating in ambiguous environments
  • You are located in or willing to relocate to the greater Chicago area and able to work in a hybrid model, with a minimum of 3 days per week onsite in Woodridge, IL

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and evolution of Formic’s operating model, forecasting framework, and long-term financial architecture

  • Help structure and communicate complex financing initiatives, including debt and securitization strategies where applicable
  • Partner cross-functionally with Finance, Legal, and executive leadership to ensure alignment, reporting discipline, and compliance
  • Prepare board materials, investor updates, quarterly reporting packages, and strategic financial analyses
  • Implement and maintain outward-facing dashboards and reporting frameworks that increase transparency and credibility
  • Operate independently in a fast-moving environment, driving initiatives from concept through execution
