As a member of the Georgetown University Medical Center’s Advancement team, the new role of Director of Stewardship and Strategic Communications, GUMC Advancement will work alongside senior GUMC Advancement leadership to build a culture of gratitude, ensuring that donors are informed, and engaged, and appropriately and consistently acknowledged and recognized for significant gifts to Georgetown University. In collaboration with the Office of Advancement’s centralized Communications, Stewardship and Alumni Engagement teams, this role will also develop communication materials for GUMC donors, key internal and external stakeholders, and volunteer leaders, ultimately impacting constituents at every level. As a highly collaborative position, a strong sense of responsibility, integrity, thoroughness, attention to detail, and timeliness is critical. The Director is responsible for managing all stewardship initiatives for the Medical Center’s most significant donors and partners. They will work closely with internal and external partners and stakeholders to strategize, design and implement meaningful acknowledgments, stewardship, and engagement activities that express gratitude and demonstrate impact. When appropriate, they will support the planning and execution of visits and tailored communications with key leadership, including the Executive Vice President of GUMC and Vice President for GUMC Advancement. This position will also serve as the GUMC liaison who will help the Office of Advancement’s Stewardship team to secure data and content from academic units, departments, and centers in order to prepare financial and impact reports for donors on a portfolio of endowed and current-use funds. This stewardship program requires careful coordination with administrators, students, finance personnel, and other colleagues in units across the main and medical center campuses. As the subject matter on all GUMC-related initiatives, the position will lead and develop a thoughtful, intentional and effective communications strategy that not only informs donors of the University’s philanthropic priorities but also expresses gratitude and demonstrates impact. As a relationship-based institution, this position is expected to bring a high level of creativity and intentionality in delivering a tailored, white-glove experience for Georgetown’s highest-profile donors. The Director will also oversee a plan for the GUMC’s strategic advancement communications, including the gift acknowledgment process, and the creation of tailored acknowledgment communications and other forms of executive level correspondence from the Executive Vice President for Health Sciences and the Vice President of GUMC Advancement. Through strategic partnership with GUMC Advancement colleagues and central OA Communications colleagues, this position will ensure that donors receive meaningful and timely acknowledgments and, where appropriate, ensure additional communication with leadership or with GUMC initiatives that continue to drive engagement forward. It is only with a consistent level of high quality and thoughtful points of contact, engagement, and accurate and compelling correspondence that current and prospective GUMC donors will continue to look to Georgetown as a place to partner philanthropically. This position is crucial to ensuring this meaningful work.
