About The Position

Heartline Staffing, Strategic Talent Partners with Purple Cow Recruiting, is seeking an experienced Director of Sterile Processing for a permanent leadership opportunity in Asheville, North Carolina. Under the direction of the Vice President of Perioperative Services, the Director of Sterile Processing provides executive leadership for all sterile processing operations, ensuring alignment with the hospital’s mission, goals, and quality standards. This role focuses on patient safety, physician support, employee development, and operational efficiency across all supported service lines. The Director is responsible for integrating sterile processing operations with perioperative and clinical departments to ensure coordination, workflow efficiency, and compliance with regulatory and infection control standards. This leader oversees staffing strategy, competency development, quality control programs, and continuous process improvement while supporting orientation and ongoing education for departmental staff. This position supports a large, complex acute care environment with multiple surgical service lines, inpatient and outpatient procedural areas, and ambulatory clinics. Compensation is salaried and based on experience, with eligibility for incentive bonus, sign-on, and relocation assistance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business or Nursing OR completion of a two-year Surgical Technology program required
  • Current Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician (CSPDT) OR
  • Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST)
  • IAHCSMM certification required
  • Minimum of 5 years of Sterile Processing experience required
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive leadership experience in Central Sterile Processing
  • Acute care hospital experience required
  • Demonstrated leadership of large teams in large facilities required
  • Strong knowledge of operating room instrumentation, aseptic technique, and infection control
  • Proven ability to work under pressure with strong attention to detail
  • Proficiency with computer systems and sterile processing workflow platforms
  • Resume must clearly demonstrate 5+ years of progressive leadership experience
  • Metrics required on resume (team size, volume, operational improvements, outcomes)
