This dual-focused leadership position is responsible for (1) directing the Staff Development and Training Program and (2) supporting the Director of Nursing in the clinical oversight and daily operations of the Nursing Department within the Health Care Center. The primary expectation of this role is to ensure that all nursing staff—licensed and unlicensed—are trained, competent, and compliant with applicable federal, state (California Title 22), county, and local regulations, as well as facility policies and procedures. This position supports the delivery of the highest practicable level of quality care, safety, and resident outcomes at all times. In addition, this role serves as the Restorative Nursing Program Coordinator under the direction of the Director of Nursing, oversees CNA certification renewals and competency validation, participates in psychotropic medication oversight, and collaborates with Medical Records and Nursing leadership to ensure 100% documentation and care plan compliance. This position may provide limited staff education support to the onsite Residential Care Facility for the Elderly (RCFE/Creekside), serves as a back-up Infection Preventionist as assigned, and may function as a Charge Nurse or Nurse Supervisor when operationally required.

Requirements

  • Current, active, unencumbered California LVN or RN license.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in long-term care, including at least one (1) year of direct resident care.
  • Knowledge of CMS Conditions of Participation, California Title 22, and survey readiness processes.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English; additional languages a plus.
  • Proficiency in PointClickCare, Microsoft Outlook, and standard office equipment.
  • Demonstrated ability to teach, coach, and evaluate staff using adult learning principles.
  • Ability to make independent clinical and operational decisions within scope.
  • Ability to interact professionally with residents, families, staff, physicians, and regulatory agencies.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience as Director of Staff Development preferred.
  • Supervisory or leadership experience preferred.
  • Certification or experience in Infection Prevention preferred.
