About The Position

Engineering a world of possibilities The Director of Sports Performance manages the intercollegiate sports strength and conditioning program for 18 varsity sports. This is an on campus position located in Golden, Colorado.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
  • 2 years of experience as a strength and conditioning coach at a professional or collegiate level.
  • Ability to work non-standard hours, including early mornings, evenings, and weekends.
  • CPR & First Aid Certification.
  • CSCS or SCCC certification by the Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association or the National Strength Coaches Association required.
  • Ability to represent a public persona that aligns with Mines values.
  • Ability to work with a broad community, alumni, Boosters and Mines Foundation.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree from an accredited institution.
  • 3-5 years of experience as a strength and conditioning coach at a professional or collegiate level.
  • Knowledge of equipment maintenance and repair is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Program Management Create in season, out of season and summer strength, conditioning and speed programs for all NCAA Sport programs.
  • Schedule all NCAA sport programs into Volk and McKee weight room facilities year round.
  • Create, implement and oversee Volk and McKee weight room maintenance and cleaning schedules.
  • Schedule staffing and coordinate logistics to help successfully implement strength, conditioning and speed program for all 18 varsity sports.
  • Work with sports medicine department on all injury prevention and rehabilitation as needed.
  • Oversee and manage the budget, purchasing and maintenance of all weight room and conditioning equipment.
  • Oversee and manage the Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach.
  • Head Football Strength and Conditioning Coach Develop and implement a year-round football specific strength & conditioning program.
  • Lead warm-up and stretch for all football practices and games, including away games.
  • Assist with sideline management during all games.
  • Meet with football recruits as needed, including during recruiting weekends, to discuss the strength & conditioning program and provide weight room tours during campus visits.
  • Attend football staff meetings to present player updates and review training and practice plans.
  • Compliance and Certifications Understand and follow all Colorado School of Mines, RMAC and NCAA rules and regulations.
  • Maintain appropriate certifications as specified by NCAA.
