About The Position

The University of Pikeville is seeking an energetic and collaborative individual for the Director of Sports Medicine. This position performs the sports medicine duties for the university's 26 athletic programs.

Requirements

Master’s degree or commensurate experience in Athletic Training.
Certified by the National Athletic Training Association - Board of Certification.
Must be familiar with operating modalities and sports-related equipment. (e.g., e-stim/ultrasound machine, ice machine, whirlpool, water boys).
Must be self-sufficient.
Must be able to manage and direct the sports medicine staff.
Must have excellent communication skills.
Must be familiar with Microsoft Office, particularly Word and Excel.
Must be able to perform simple calculations.
Must be familiar with conducting research on the internet, as well as creating online travel arrangements.
Must be highly flexible for changing tasks and environments, including the ability to work nontraditional hours for game coverage
Understand how to work successfully as a team within all levels of the organization and know how to contribute to the mission of the university.

Responsibilities

Provide coverage for athletic practice sessions and game events, both home and away.
Assign sport coverage for the sports medicine department, ensuring that each sport has adequate coverage at all events.
Supervise the Sports Medicine staff which includes four athletic trainers.
Supervise work-study and scholarship students helping in the sports medicine department.
Recruitment of scholarship students to assist the sports medicine department.
Maintain the sports medicine rooms as needed in order to provide the best sports medicine experience possible for our student athletes.
Maintain records on all student athletes.
Maintain the sports medicine equipment.
Procurement of supplies.
Work with insurance companies to provide coverage for the student athletes.
Perform administrative duties as needed.
Other duties as assigned.
