About The Position

Catholic Charities of Long Island (CCLI) shares the love of Jesus by offering dignified and compassionate care to poor and vulnerable neighbors of every faith and background. CCLI is currently looking for a Director of Senior Services to support our mission throughout Long Island by providing mission centered leadership for programs servicing seniors. By joining our team, you will ensure compliance, efficient delivery of services and direct supervision to Meals on Wheels, Senior Nutrition Community Centers, Senior Case Management and Senior Congregate Centers. Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Gerontology, Psychology, Human Services, Nutrition, or a related field.
  • Minimum 10 years of progressively responsible leadership experience in nonprofit, human services, public health, or faith-based program management, including staff supervision.
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making skills with the ability to manage complex programs and priorities.
  • Demonstrated integrity, discretion, and ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Proven ability to build collaborative relationships with staff, community leaders, and funding partners, balancing advocacy with diplomacy.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Commitment to and passion for the mission and values of Catholic Charities.
  • Ability to travel throughout Long Island with occasional travel to Albany or Washington, D.C.; ability to perform standard office tasks including prolonged computer

Responsibilities

  • Lead senior services in alignment with the Agency’s mission, providing strategic direction and operational oversight.
  • Develop and implement program strategies, initiatives, and fiscally sustainable service models.
  • Ensure high-quality service delivery within approved budgets and in compliance with regulatory and contractual requirements.
  • Collaborate with finance, development, and communications teams on funding alignment, grants, and program visibility.
  • Build and maintain partnerships with community organizations, government agencies, diocesan entities, and internal programs to expand services and resources.
  • Evaluate program effectiveness and implement policy or service improvements as needed.
  • Recruit, supervise, and develop staff (up to 10 employees), overseeing training, performance management, and succession planning.
  • Oversee key senior events, volunteer engagement, emergency preparedness, and facility coordination; represent the Agency in community and professional forums.
