Four Seasons Residence Club Aviara in Carlsbad is seeking a Director of Security to lead our Security Department with professionalism, discretion, and an unwavering commitment to service. This leadership role provides strategic oversight of all safety and security operations across our serene coastal property, ensuring a secure, welcoming, and luxurious environment for our guests, residents, and employees. The ideal candidate is a confident, hands‑on leader who collaborates closely with resort and residential leadership to uphold Four Seasons standards while fostering a culture rooted in care, accountability, and excellence. With Aviara’s blend of resort tranquility and residential privacy, this role requires a leader who can seamlessly balance guest experience with proactive safety measures, asset protection, and continuous operational improvement.

Requirements

  • Strong communication , problem‑solving, and analytical skills, with the professionalism expected in a luxury hospitality setting.
  • Valid California Driver’s License and confidence operating vehicles safely.
  • Experience overseeing health and safety programs and supporting property‑wide security initiatives.
  • Proven ability to resolve interpersonal conflicts with discretion and calm.
  • Skill in preparing clear, thorough reports and using business software, including MS Office.
  • Training in CPR, First Aid, firefighting , and crowd management.
  • Background in security investigations and working with physical security systems.
  • High school diploma or equivalent

Nice To Haves

  • Military/police experience and H ealth & S afety certifications (N ational Examination Board in Occupational Safety and Health ( EBOSH ) , Institution of Occupational Safety and Health ( IOSH) are valuable assets.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and inspire a high‑performing Security team, fostering a culture of professionalism, service, and continuous improvement in alignment with Four Seasons standards.
  • Cultivate a property‑wide culture of safety and awareness, ensuring every employee understands their role in maintaining a secure and welcoming environment.
  • Oversee all physical security operations, including access control, patrols, investigations, incident reporting, and coordination with local authorities when needed.
  • Ensure the protection of guests, residents, employees, and property assets, using proactive risk assessment, best practices, and thoughtful use of technology.
  • Support exceptional guest experiences by responding to sensitive or complex situations with discretion, care, and the highest level of professionalism.
  • Maintain readiness for emergencies and crises, including leading training, guiding response efforts, and ensuring systems and equipment remain fully functional.
  • Champion health, safety, and compliance, overseeing safety programs, training, and documentation to protect the wellbeing of all who visit or work at the Residence Club.
  • Collaborate closely with leadership, providing clear communication, strategic recommendations, and regular updates on security trends and property needs.
  • Represent Four Seasons with warmth and integrity, exemplifying the Golden Rule in every interaction and ensuring that guests feel safe, valued, and cared for.
