About The Position

The Director of Security through his training and expertise anticipates, recognizes and reduces the security or crime risk for the community. This individual ensures that the Club’s safety and security goals are met and serves as the primary liaison between the security team and the Polo Club senior leadership and membership. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. The Director of Security is responsible for the overall security strategy and ensures that all operations meet the Club’s objectives. This includes developing lone term security plans, adapting to emerging risks, and continuously improving protocols The DS manages relationships with third party security providers, including technology vendors, maintenance companies, and contractors for security systems installations. This involved coordinating with vendors for routine maintenance, repairs, upgrades, new security initiatives, such as surveillance systems or access control solutions. The DS oversees the security department’s budget, working closely with the GM and CFO. This includes planning and tracking expenditures for personnel, equipment, and project related costs. They are responsible for managing cost controls measures while ensuring that security operations remain effective As part of financial management, the DS codes and verifies security related invoices, ensuring accuracy before they are submitted to the club’s finance department. This task involves working with multiple vendors to process payments efficiently. A major part of the DS’s role if acting as the face of security for the Polo Club members and staff. The DS engages with board members, club members and key stakeholders to address concerns and ensure the security measures align with the expectations of the community The DS provides high level oversight of security incidents, ensuring proper investigation and resolution. This includes coordinating with local law enforcement, legal teams and insurance companies where necessary Oversees the daily operation and administration of the Security Department Devises, plans and implements policies and procedures to meet administrative and resident needs Provides guidance and direction on security issues to the management team Determines and approves personnel assignments and shift level staffing Liaises with other security and law enforcement associations and fire departments Reviews all daily activity and incident reports for accuracy and follow up action Directs and evaluates the safety and security training for all Polo Club staff and drives the same level of training for the security contractor team Exercises general supervision over parking and roadway operations by providing systematic patrols to ensure protection of vehicles and property Strictly enforces speeding limits and traffic patterns on common grounds Conducts routine security inspections on a random and recurring basis

Requirements

  • Requires extensive knowledge of all aspects of personal safety and commercial security
  • Requires good business skills which include budgeting, inventory management and time management.
  • Knowledge of safe use of various fire arms
  • Must have a valid FL drivers license
  • Ability to analyze, interpret data and prepare reports.
  • Ability to understand and carry out verbal and written instructions in writing.
  • Ability to interact professionally and maintain effective working relationships with superiors, co-workers and members.
  • Must be able to multi-task and work in a fast paced environment.
  • Must have a Bachelor’s Degree or related experience in Public Law, Criminal Justice and 10+ years of law enforcement or security related leadership experience
  • Ability to communicate well in English.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.
  • Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
  • Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems.
  • Ability to deal with a variety of abstract and concrete variables.
  • To perform this job successfully, an individual should be proficient with Microsoft Word, Outlook, Internet, and Spreadsheet and Inventory software.
