About The Position

Reporting to the Vice President of Support Services, this position plans, organizes, directs, and operates all components of the Security Department of Concord Hospital across the health system including at Concord, Laconia, Franklin, and surrounding communities. This includes overall security and safety of patients, staff, visitors, and assets; risk assessment; workplace violence management; crisis management and emergency response planning; campus wide patrols and parking enforcement; lost and found; and coordinating with Law Enforcement and Corrections. The Director is responsible for creating a physical environment and culture that enables the hospital to fulfill its mission by managing the operations of the department and by providing measurement, assessment and continuous improvement of the department's performance and overall security and safety across the enterprise. The Director will provide leadership, education, vision, motivation, and a working environment that promotes teamwork and customer satisfaction while ensuring consistent, safe, and reliable operations of hospital infrastructure and optimization of systems. The Director will be integral in maintaining security in the enterprise to ensure a sustainable health system, following ISO and NIAHO standards. Work closely with and collaborate with Director of Safety to meet organizational goals.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree required.
  • Certified Healthcare Security and Safety Officer (CHSO), Physical Security Professional (PSP), Certified Protection Professional (CPP), or other relevant certification, upon hire or within two years of hire
  • Ten years experience with institutional security and/or law enforcement required
  • A minimum of two years experience in a progressively responsible related leadership role required.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitates and deescalates, anxious/ stressed individuals/ situations and manage aggression.
  • Manages complex interpersonal situations and crisis management scenarios.
  • Interacts with patients in a manner that is supportive and non-judgmental while maintaining a safe environment for our staff.
  • Prioritizes and devises creative resolutions resulting in positive outcomes utilizing strong problem solving and critical thinking skills.
  • Utilizes excellent oral and written communications skills in order to communicate at all levels of the enterprise including senior executives, members of our provider network and Board of Trustee members.
  • Can develop and clearly articulate a security based strategic plan which sustains and enhances the safety and security of every person entering any of our facilities or interacting with our facilities in a virtual manner
  • Facilitates ongoing training for every employee of the organization specific to "Armed Intruder"
  • Stays connected with state and federal resources to continually assess and enhance our security operations in relation to emerging security-related trends in healthcare
  • Develops and maintains positive working relations with the Chiefs of Police in our central communities of Concord, Laconia and Franklin. Engages with other community Chiefs of Police as necessary.
  • Serves on the governor's healthcare security advisory council
  • Engages with community leaders on an as needed basis, serving as a positive role model for our organizations.
