About The Position

The East Irondequoit Central School District has an opening for a Director of Secondary Education. We are seeking a Director of Secondary Education to oversee the curriculum, instruction, assessment, and professional learning of our secondary schools. The Director of Secondary Education will report to the Assistant Superintendent for Instruction and work closely with the district leadership, secondary principals, teachers, and staff.

Requirements

  • School Administrator, SDA, or SBL, SDL Certificate
  • Five (5) Years Successful Teaching Experience in Secondary Education
  • At least 3 Years Successful Building Principal Experience Strongly Preferred

Responsibilities

  • Assists the Assistant Superintendent for Instruction in issues related to 6-12 curriculum, instruction, staff development, testing and assessment, scoring and training and NYS Education Department reports.
  • Works to ensure articulation and alignment of all curricula 6-12 across all secondary schools.
  • Works with principals to coordinate curriculum, instruction and assessment at the 6-12 level.
  • Assists the Assistant Superintendent with the preparation of budgets related to curriculum and instruction.
  • Works in conjunction with the Director of Elementary Education.
  • Facilitates and coordinates the production of staff development based on district programs for building leaders and classroom teachers.
  • Prepares periodic reports for the Assistant Superintendent for Instruction and the Superintendent of Schools.
  • Provides assistance to classroom teachers with strategies and materials for teaching literacy and numeracy to students of all abilities.
  • Provides coaching and feedback on secondary teachers and leaders, through both formal and informal processes.
  • Uses data to inform practices with the goal of improving student outcomes.
  • Attends appropriate conferences, seminars and/or training programs related to programmatic and staff development concepts.
  • Works collaboratively with leadership and teaching staff in optimizing the use of instructional technology.
  • Performs other related duties as may be required by the Assistant Superintendent for Instruction.
