About The Position

The Director of Scouting serves as the primary leader for the identification, evaluation, and organization of prospective student-athletes for the football program. This position oversees prospect discovery across high school, junior college, and the NCAA Transfer Portal; manages recruiting databases and boards; and collaborates closely with the General Manager, coaching staff, and recruiting operations personnel to ensure a comprehensive, consistent, and compliant recruiting process. The role requires strong relationship-building skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Regular, reliable, and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job duty, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution
  • Demonstrated experience in NCAA Division I football scouting, recruiting boards, and personnel evaluation
  • Knowledge of NCAA recruiting rules and procedures
  • At least two years experience using recruiting databases and video evaluation platforms to support roster construction
  • Working knowledge of NCAA compliance, admissions, and academic eligibility processes
  • Knowledge of football personnel evaluation principles and position-specific criteria
  • Strong organizational and database management skills
  • Attention to detail and ability to manage confidential information skills
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to evaluate film and apply standardized grading systems
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with coaches, staff, and external stakeholders
  • Ability to travel, work nights/weekends, and maintain flexible hours during recruiting periods

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in Quality Control football position and/or Director level of Player Personnel
  • Experience evaluating high school, junior college, and transfer portal prospects
  • Established relationships with high school and junior college coaches, and trainers
  • Experience working within a General Manager or personnel department structure within a collegiate football program
