About The Position

SHERIDAN SCHOOL DISTRICT DIRECTOR OF SCHOOL SUPPORT AND LEADERSHIP JOB DESCRIPTION TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT : 1. 240 day contract (12 month). 2. Job Type: Licensed. 3. Reports to: Assistant Superintendent of Teaching and Learning 4. Salary based on the district Administrative Salary Schedule. 5. FLSA Status: Exempt. 6. 10 days vacation per year of employment. 7. 12 days sick leave per year of employment. 8. 3 days personal leave per year of employment PERSONAL QUALIFICATIONS : 1. Must hold a Master’s Degree in Education, an Arkansas Teaching License, and building or District level administrative certification. 2. Demonstrate in-depth knowledge of Professional Learning Communities (PLC’s) including collaborative practices, data-driven decision-making, and continuous improvement processes, along with best practices in professional development, curriculum, and instruction aligned to district strategic plan’s educational goals and objectives. 3. Must be attentive to details, a self-starter, able to work effectively without constant or direct supervision. Must be able to multi-task. 4. Must have strong communication and organizational skills, maintain accurate and timely documentation, and effectively plan and present information to a wide range of audiences. 5. Must demonstrate effective leadership, team-building skills, and work collaboratively to advance district priorities. 6. Maintains confidentiality and supports district protocols and legal requirements concerning the release of public information. GENERAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES (but not limited to): K-12 Principals, Curriculum and Instruction; Professional Development, Instructional Facilitators, Early Childhood Laision, Parent Concerns, Novice Teacher, Student Discipline 1. Follow all rules, policies, and procedures of the Sheridan School District, along with state and federal regulations pertaining to instruction, academic matters, and professional development. 2. Provide leadership for short and long range planning for K-12 Education and instruction initiatives, policies, and procedures. Such planning involves vision, goals, program objectives/strategies/activities, human and fiscal resources, training evaluation, and collaboration with others. 3. Provide leadership for the short and long range planning, organization, and scheduling of all district level professional development. Work with campus leaders to ensure quality professional development on the campus level that is consistent with district goals and objectives. 4. Oversee and align the efforts of curriculum and instruction services to reflect horizontal and vertical alignment, as well as continuity and articulation of the instructional outcomes throughout the school district, Pre-K, Kindergarten through twelfth (12 th ) grade. 5. Plan, prepare, supervise, maintain, and operate within budgets related to either Curriculum and Instruction or Professional Development. Make budget recommendations as needed. 6. Assume a leadership role as a member of the District Leadership Team. 7. Assume responsibility for personal professional growth and keeps materials, supplies, and skills up-to-date. 8. Conduct end-of-the year evaluations on K-12 principals, instructional facilitators, and any other personnel assigned or who may be included under the supervision of this position. 9. Other duties as assigned by the superintendent or designee. SPECIFIC QUALIFICATIONS and/or REQUIREMENTS: Physical Requirements: Must be physically able to stand, walk, sit, occasionally stoop or bend. Must be able to lift objects that fall within the scope of job responsibilities. Must have the dexterity to perform the duties and responsibilities of the job. Intelligence: Requires the ability to read and follow a variety of instructions on district, state, and federal websites as well as hard copy. Language Ability: Requires the ability to read a variety of correspondences. Requires the ability to prepare reports, forms, system documentation, etc. using prescribed formats and conforming to all rules of grammar. Verbal Aptitude: Requires the ability to record and deliver information, to explain procedures, to give oral and written instructions. Must be able to communicate effectively. Must possess the ability to speak to people with poise, voice control, and confidence. Must be able to deliver effective presentations to both small and large audiences.
