The Director of School Operations is responsible for overseeing various functions within the School Operations department, ensuring effective processes and procedures that align with the mission of the Houston County School District. This role involves leadership, evaluation of school principals, coordination of enrollment processes, and development of safety plans, among other responsibilities.

  • Provides leadership and oversight to School Operations functions.
  • Evaluates school principals and coordinates the interviewing and selection process for principals and assistant principals.
  • Assists Central Registration in the enrollment process.
  • Evaluates and approves field trips, fundraisers, principal leave, and travel expense forms.
  • Leads principal break-out groups at Superintendent meetings.
  • Oversees the development of safety plans and procedures manuals.
  • Assists parents with concerns at the school level.
  • Supports administrators with decisions affecting students' academic and behavior concerns.
  • Monitors behavior reports to ensure accurate coding.
  • Facilitates a mentor program for new principals and assistant principals.
  • Assists in the documentation and remediation of any school personnel performing below expectations.
  • Keeps informed of State Board of Education rules, Georgia code, and local Board policies.
  • Works in coordination with other departments to prioritize student achievement.
  • Keeps Executive Director and Assistant Superintendent for School Operations informed of activities.
  • Completes special projects as assigned.
  • Represents the School Operations department as needed.
  • Eligible for a leadership certificate in the State of Georgia; specialist degree or higher preferred.
  • 3 years classroom teaching experience and 5 years of successful experience in a leadership role; experience as a principal or central office administrator is required.
  • Valid Georgia Professional Certificate in Educational Leadership.
  • Exceptional problem resolution skills and ability to apply teaching and learning principles.
  • Ability to relay technical information in understandable terms and write professional correspondence and reports.
  • Knowledge of general statistical procedures and ability to analyze assessment data.
  • Ability to facilitate the problem-solving process and synthesize workable options.
  • Considerable knowledge of Microsoft Office Products.
  • Effective customer service skills to interact with various stakeholders.
