About The Position

The Margaritaville Hotel San Diego Gaslamp Quarter, previously Hotel Solamar, is the brand's first city-center location on the West Coast. It seamlessly blends the excitement of a metropolitan oasis with the carefree feeling of the islands, located in the heart of the Gaslamp Quarter, just blocks from Petco Park and the San Diego Convention Center. Margaritaville features 235 guest rooms as well as signature Margaritaville food and beverage concepts. These include LandShark Bar & Grill, a 3-meal restaurant with garage-style doors opening to the corners of 6th and J St., serving guest favorites like the signature LandShark burger, fish sandwiches, tacos, and fresh salads, putting a contemporary twist on classic American beach fare with coastal-inspired menus, live music, and views of downtown San Diego. Additionally, 5 o’Clock Somewhere is the largest downtown rooftop pool space with a hip lounge and dining area boasting live entertainment 5-7 days a week, featuring 168 seats (18 at the bar, and 150 with tables) and 42 poolside chairs, including day beds and cabanas. The Director of Sales role is for a results-driven and passionate sales professional with a knack for building relationships and driving revenue growth. This individual will be at the forefront of the hotel's success, bringing high energy, enthusiasm, and a strategic mindset to drive sales initiatives, capture new business opportunities, and maximize market presence. The position requires thriving in a fast-paced, competitive environment and a proven track record in hotel sales.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Hospitality, or related field or equivalent experience
  • Proven experience in hotel sales or a similar role, preferably in a luxury hotel or resort
  • Strong leadership and team management skills
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation abilities
  • Track record of achieving sales targets and driving revenue growth
  • Strategic mindset and ability to analyze market data and trends
  • Proficiency in sales software and CRM systems
  • Flexibility to travel and work irregular hours as needed

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute strategic sales plans to achieve revenue targets
  • Build and maintain relationships with clients, travel agencies, and corporate partners
  • Identify new business opportunities and market trends
  • Lead a sales team, providing guidance and support
  • Collaborate with other departments to optimize guest experiences and drive sales
  • Conduct sales presentations and negotiations with potential clients
  • Manage budgets, forecasting, and financial performance of the sales department
  • Stay updated on industry trends and competitors to stay ahead of the market
