About The Position

The Director of Sales, Americas (West Region) leads a team of Key Account Managers, Territory Managers, and Inside Sales Specialists to drive growth and focus on key accounts. This role is responsible for increasing revenue, strengthening customer relationships, and ensuring team success. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in Life Sciences sales leadership, key account management, and extensive knowledge of the West region. This position reports to the Commercial General Manager, Americas, and is part of the commercial organization based in Waltham, MA. The role is fully remote, ideally based in Northern California.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a life science field, with a preference for professional qualifications in business administration, marketing, or a related discipline.
  • Over 5 years of sales team leadership experience in the Life Sciences industry, including Academic Research and Biopharma, with a focus on the West region.
  • Clear experience and demonstrated results with proven success growing key accounts both as an individual contributor and leader of key account managers.
  • Experience working in matrix organizations, with a cross functional collaborative mindset.
  • Strong business acumen and a deep understanding of sales strategies, methodologies, and best practices.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to leverage data to drive decision-making and sales performance improvements.
  • Proactive and results-oriented mindset, with a focus on achieving and exceeding sales targets.

Nice To Haves

  • Selling life sciences consumable products like antibodies, reagents and kits to Academic Research and Biopharmaceuticals.

Responsibilities

  • Drive the West Region team's performance to meet targets for profitable margin and sales revenue, contributing to the overall revenue and strategic objectives of the Americas region.
  • Lead, develop, mentor, and motivate a team of high-performing sales colleagues.
  • Build, develop and refine sales processes, tools, and methodologies to enhance efficiency and effectiveness, working cross functionally and globally.
  • Monitor sales performance metrics, analyse data and identify areas for improvement.
  • Ensure accurate sales forecasting and pipeline management to support business planning and resource allocation.
  • Drive revenue growth for key accounts through proactive and reactive promotion of our portfolio of products and service capabilities.
  • Drive the creation of account and territory plans to drive growth and opportunity in West region.
