About The Position

The Director of Safety and Risk Management is responsible for leading and coordinating safety programs and initiatives aimed at preventing accidents and incidents that could harm individuals, property, or the environment. This role is crucial for ensuring compliance with federal and industry regulations within a profitable supply chain services company that has been operational for over 25 years. The ideal candidate is a seasoned transportation professional eager to make a significant impact in the logistics sector.

Requirements

• 10 years of total transportation experience.
• 4+ years of Class 8 transportation safety management experience.
• Experience in risk management, insurance, claims investigation & adjustments, and subrogation.
• Knowledge of CSA, FMCSA, DOT, HOS, ELD (Omnitracs), EPA & OSHA compliance.
• Familiarity with on-board communication systems (i.e., AS/400).
• Experience in driver coaching & training and implementing positive corrective action.
• Understanding of medical qualification, licensing & ongoing certification requirements.
• Ability to conduct safety inspections of terminals, shops, and vehicles.
• Knowledge of accident-avoidance technology and its application for driver safety.
• Presentation/public speaking experience.
• Proficient in MS Office Suite, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, & Outlook.

Nice To Haves

• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, or Transportation (preferred but not required).

Responsibilities

• Direct compliance with federal and industry regulations and implement risk management initiatives with a hands-on approach to accidents and auto liability situations.
• Maintain DOT register and DOT accident files.
• Travel to terminal locations to meet with safety personnel on a quarterly basis.
• Attend safety-related leadership seminars and conferences.
• Ensure DOT compliance of drivers, equipment, and facilities, including training of personnel, electronic driver log compliance, accident management, and audits by DOT, OSHA, and EPA.
