About The Position

The Director of Rooms is responsible for the performance of the Rooms Division, including Front Desk, Guest Services, Housekeeping, Laundry, and the Spa. This is an executive level position reporting to the General Manager. The successful candidate demonstrates their ability to produce balanced financial, guest experience and associate satisfaction outcomes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalency preferred.
  • Must have previous experience in the Rooms Division in a hotel/resort property of similar size and quality for a period of five or more years.
  • Experience in forecasting and scheduling, daily reviews and analysis of operating results preferred.
  • Proficiency in the use of a computer is necessary (i.e. Microsoft Office Suite).
  • Excellent verbal and written professional communication skills required.
  • Must demonstrate strong leadership skills and the ability to nurture managers-in-training.
  • Must be detail-oriented and organized.
  • Must be able to work closely and communicate with all associates, departments, guests, and clients in a professional manner.
  • Must be highly service-oriented.
  • The ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities

  • Functions as the strategic business leader of the property's Rooms Operations; areas of responsibility include Front Office, Housekeeping, Laundry, the Spa, and Guest Services.
  • Ensures all lobby and common areas are maintained and provide a luxury experience for all guests.
  • Analyzes service issues and identifies trends.
  • Shows year-over-year improvement in associate satisfaction scores throughout the division including maintaining low turnover and high promotion-from-within ratings.
  • Controls payroll and direct expenses in line with the budget and varying levels of business using corporate-wide technology and other systems.
  • Participates in weekly forecasting and scheduling activities.
  • Provides assistance to Director of Finance during annual budget process for the Rooms Division.
  • Prepares action plans as directed by management.
  • Conducts daily reviews of operating outcomes (including corrective action if required).
  • Stays visible and connects with guests on a regular basis to obtain feedback on product quality, service levels and overall satisfaction.
  • Works with direct reports (e.g. department heads) to develop and implement departmental strategies to ensure delivery of budget, service, and retention goals.
