About The Position

The Director of Risk Management is a key member of the Southwest Healthcare Leadership Team. This position oversees two facilities. This position qualifies for a Sign on Bonus! Southwest Healthcare Inland Valley Hospital in Wildomar, California, is a licensed 122-bed facility accredited by the Joint Commission. It is Southwest Riverside County's only designated Trauma Center and a county-designated Paramedic Base Station. The hospital performs more than 4,000 surgeries a year, and has an average of 4,000 Emergency Department visits per month. The hospital features a Bariatric Weight-Loss Surgery Center of Excellence and the region’s only Total Joint Center. Southwest Healthcare Rancho Springs Hospital in Murrieta, California, is a 120 bed acute-care hospital with the region's only Pediatric Emergency Services team (for children 14 and under) provided by board certified Rady Children’s emergency medicine physicians. Rancho Springs Hospital also provides the area's only OB/Emergency Department program, which gives expectant mothers 24/7 on-site access to OB/GYN physician coverage. The Childbirth Center at Rancho Springs Hospital is the largest in the region and features spacious family-friendly private suites. Rancho's Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) is operated by Rady Children’s.

Requirements

  • Graduate of a state accredited school of nursing or graduate of an accredited collegiate program in a health-science related field.
  • Master’s degree in a healthcare related field, or a Bachelor’s degree in related field with seven (7) years of director level experience.
  • At least four (4) years leadership experience in an acute care facility.
  • Certified Professional in Healthcare Risk Management or Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality.

Responsibilities

  • Direct, organize, lead, implement and supervise day to day operations of the Risk Management, Accreditation/Regulatory Compliance and Infection Control efforts for SWHS.
  • Serve as the hospital Patient Safety Officer, Compliance Officer and Civil Rights Coordinator.
  • Participate in 24-hour call.
  • Ensure thorough investigations and notifications to senior leaders for all serious incidents.
  • Review and update the Risk Management Plan, Goals and Objectives yearly.
  • Maintain the risk management database and notify Sr. Director Corporate Risk Management of all G.H.I incidents.
  • Oversee and participate in facility risk assessments for clinical and non-clinical areas.
  • Participate in RCA’s and FEMA’s and ensure submission to Corporate Risk Management.
  • Participate in the peer review process and present serious incidents when applicable.
  • Participate in new employee orientation for discussion of the Risk Management Program.
  • Act as a resource for issues related to consents, confidentiality, documentation, ethical standards, and compliance.
  • Promote Best Practices by educating facility and medical staff on risk management issues.
  • Participate in the development, implementation and review/revision of policies and procedures.
  • Collaborate with clinical leaders to establish compliance with standards of care.
  • Provide reports to Corporate Risk Management as per established guidelines.
  • Direct and participate in the investigation of serious incidents.
  • Receive, review, and process grievances filed under the facility’s grievance procedure.
