Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business or related field or five years' experience providing high level support in retail sector. Portions of education may be substituted with retail management experience. Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups, managers, employees, clients, customers, and the public using tact, courtesy, and cooperativeness.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of instructions and deal with several abstract and concrete variables; exercise judgment, resourcefulness, ingenuity, and initiative.
  • Knowledge of basic word processing and spreadsheet software.
  • Ability to operate office equipment, including computer, typewriter, telephone, fax and copy machine.
  • Good understanding of methods needed to effectively operate a retail and material handling operation.
  • Valid Driver’s License, car insurance and reliable automobile required.
  • Medium physical demand level.
  • While performing these duties, the employee is regularly required to sit and stand for prolonged periods of time; use hands and fingers to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk and hear.
  • Frequently required to walk and/or stands for up to 8 hours per day.
  • Must regularly lift, carry, and/or move up to 20 pounds and up to 50 pounds occasionally.
  • Ability to push/pull and carry up to 30 pounds.
  • Kneels, stoops, and bends frequently.
  • Occasional need to push heavy, wheeled carts, pallet jacks, hand trucks and other material handling equipment with loads weighing up to 250 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision.
  • Local and regional travel is required.

Responsibilities

  • Consistently demonstrates and incorporates principles of good leadership practices.
  • Maintains consistent, visible, and positive leadership presence at all retail stores.
  • Hire and develop store managers to effectively operate stores.
  • Manages workforce and physical assets by effectively planning, organizing, problem solving, motivating, coaching, training, disciplining, and uses internal consultants to effectively control loss prevention and safety management issues.
  • Works with managers and Vice President of Retail to ensure Goodwill’s Standard Operating Procedures and best practices are adhered to with receiving, processing, merchandising, and selling donated goods.
  • Develops and maintains aggressive growth strategies to meet or exceed sales goals and increases revenue and division effectiveness.
