About The Position

We’re seeking a Director, Resident Care to lead clinical operations and coordinate resident care in our Assisted Living community. Reporting to the Director, Health and Wellness or Executive Director, you’ll oversee resident care staff, ensure compliance with regulatory standards, and maintain high-quality care and resident satisfaction.

Requirements

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree strongly preferred in a related field
  • Minimum three years’ experience in Assisted Living; proven management experience required
  • Certified as Med Aide as required by state law; maintain current certification
  • Compassion for and desire to work with older adults
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Windows, Word, Excel, and Outlook preferred
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to solve practical problems, manage budgets, and interpret instructions
  • Ability to effectively communicate with residents, families, staff, and vendors
  • Experience managing staff schedules, training, and performance
  • Ability to stand, walk, sit, use hands, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, climb, and balance
  • Ability to talk, hear, and use vision effectively
  • Possible exposure to communicable diseases, blood-borne pathogens, latex, and other hazards
  • Ability to lift and assist residents as needed, up to 50 lbs occasionally
  • Frequent interaction with coworkers, residents, and vendors

Responsibilities

  • Ensure all residents are evaluated prior to move-in and with changes in condition
  • Communicate with residents, families, and staff to meet individual needs
  • Participate in care conferences and update service plans accordingly
  • Hire, train, schedule, and supervise Care Partners and activity staff
  • Manage staff performance, provide coaching, and ensure compliance with HR guidelines
  • Verify associate hours, manage staffing schedules, and ensure coverage within budget
  • Assign and monitor resident health activities such as blood pressure and weight checks
  • Monitor medication administration, conduct audits, and assist with medication management
  • Observe residents’ health status and report significant changes to Director, Health and Wellness
  • Conduct pre-move-in screenings and ensure all documentation is complete
  • Perform ongoing assessments of resident physical and psycho-social needs
  • Coordinate resident appointments and in-house ancillary services
  • Maintain resident records, perform MAR reviews, and ensure compliance with documentation standards
  • Participate in emergency response, community functions, and family events
  • Provide guidance for the Activity Program and oversee inventory within budget
  • Ensure Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) activities are completed and compliance is maintained
  • Maintain compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations including HIPAA, OSHA, and Blood Borne Pathogen Guidelines
  • Promote a safe work environment and ensure staff adhere to safety standards
  • Foster teamwork, take initiative, and support coworkers, residents, and visitors
  • Perform other duties as assigned
