About The Position

We are seeking an experienced Director of Resident Care to lead clinical and operational services within a licensed Assisted Living and Memory Care community in Fallbrook, CA. This leadership role oversees resident care operations, staffing, regulatory compliance, assessments, and overall quality of services. The Director of Resident Care ensures compassionate, high-quality care while maintaining full compliance with California Title 22 and Department of Social Services regulations. This position reports directly to the Administrator and supervises Assisted Living and Memory Care leadership staff. Candidates must hold an active California RN or LVN license.

Requirements

  • Active California RN license, LVN license
  • Current CPR certification
  • Minimum two years of leadership experience in Assisted Living, Memory Care, or Dementia/Alzheimer’s care in California
  • Strong leadership and team management skills
  • Knowledge of California Title 22 regulations
  • Experience overseeing Assisted Living and Memory Care operations
  • Knowledge of medication management programs
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication abilities
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and electronic documentation systems
  • Ability to respond effectively in emergency or crisis situations
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds
  • Ability to kneel, stoop, and reach as needed
  • Ability to manage emotionally demanding situations
  • Frequent use of computers and office equipment

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience as Director of Nursing, Director of Resident Care, or similar senior living leadership role preferred

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily operations of the Assisted Living and Memory Care departments
  • Recruit, train, supervise, evaluate, and discipline caregiving staff
  • Ensure staffing levels meet regulatory requirements and budget guidelines
  • Conduct performance evaluations and recommend compensation adjustments
  • Maintain staff training compliance per California state regulations
  • Participate in Manager on Duty rotation, including weekends and holidays as needed
  • Collaborate with department leaders to ensure coordinated resident services
  • Execute physician orders and oversee implementation of individualized care plans
  • Conduct ongoing resident assessments to determine appropriate levels of care
  • Review medical documentation and determine admission and discharge eligibility
  • Lead resident care conferences with families and interdisciplinary teams
  • Maintain strong relationships with residents and responsible parties
  • Coordinate hospital visits and support smooth care transitions
  • Provide emergency response oversight when necessary
  • Ensure compliance with California Title 22 and Department of Social Services regulations
  • Prepare for and support annual state surveys and inspections
  • Maintain accurate and complete clinical documentation
  • Coordinate monthly in-service training programs
  • Oversee medication management program and ensure staff competency
  • Develop and implement departmental policies and procedures
  • Manage Assisted Living department budgets and operational reports
  • Monitor supplies and equipment within financial guidelines
  • Attend leadership meetings and support strategic planning initiatives
