About The Position

The Director of Research is a key member of the Clinical Development team, responsible for leading the organization’s clinical research strategy and advancing intraoperative monitoring (IOM). This role oversees the development of research studies, white papers, and peer reviewed publications, and drives data initiatives that strengthen clinical standards and support emerging monitoring methodologies. The Director will also guide the development of the organization’s deep brain stimulation (DBS) program, contribute to training initiatives, collaborate across departments, and support efforts that elevate clinical quality and innovation.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. in Neuroscience or a related discipline preferred.
  • Masters in Neuroscience or related discipline required.
  • Certification in intraoperative neuromonitoring (CNIM) or related neurophysiology credentials required.
  • D.ABNM credentials preferred
  • 10 years of clinical experience in (IONM) or clinical neuroscience, with at least 5 years of research required.
  • Demonstrated clinical excellence and a strong understanding of intraoperative monitoring best practices.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills with the ability to present findings and coach effectively.
  • Proficiency in MS Office suite and comfort navigating digital documentation tools.
  • Attention to detail and the ability to work independently and collaboratively across clinical and operational teams.
  • Ability to lift a maximum of fifty (50) pounds.
  • Ability to stand, turn, and stoop among several types of equipment in an operating room for a minimum of two (2) hours to a maximum of twelve (12) hours.
  • Ability to apply different types of electrodes to a patient’s anatomy with precision and speed in preparation of monitoring a surgical procedure.
  • Ability to drive/commute.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the organization’s clinical research program, including study design, Institutional Review Board (IRB) submissions, data collection workflows, and dissemination of research findings.
  • Partner with technologists, surgeons, and internal teams to obtain high-quality research data and produce abstracts, white papers, and peer-reviewed publications that advance intraoperative monitoring (IOM) practice and clinical innovation.
  • Collaborate with clinical leadership to establish and implement the organization's deep brain stimulation (DBS) recording program.
  • Participate in surgeon and facility meetings to support program development and promote best-practice standards.
  • Provide deep brain recording services in the operating room (OR) to ensure accurate, high quality data collection.
  • Lead the training, competency development, and credentialing of technologists participating in the DBS program.
  • Deliver in OR training and hands on clinical instruction to technologists across basic and advanced modalities.
  • Collaborate with Clinical Development leadership to provide didactic education and maintain curriculum for basic, CNIM level, and advanced training programs.
  • Support ongoing refinement and alignment of training content with industry standards and organizational expectations.
  • Provide primary operating room (OR) case coverage when needed, including advanced procedures, to support clinical and operational needs across the organization.
  • Ensure consistent delivery of high-quality clinical services through expert level support and adherence to established standards.
