Founded in 1986, OnTrac has evolved into the leading provider of same-day and next-day delivery services in the U.S. for premier e-commerce and product-supply businesses, including five of the largest retailers in the U.S. Location: RemoteSalary: $180,000-$270,000 Employment Logistics: The Reliability and Maintenance Director is responsible for the performance, uptime, and lifecycle cost of OnTrac’s Material Handling Equipment (MHE) and base building systems. The role leads a team focused on asset reliability, preventive maintenance programs, vendor performance, and continuous improvement across 50+ last‑mile facilities in the eastern half of the U.S. The Director also supports capital planning with asset lifecycle inputs, coordinates with Operations and Engineering to reduce downtime during peak and non‑peak periods, and oversees MHE design and installs based on package mix needs, including work with MHE integrators and competitive bidding.

Requirements

  • 10+ years’ experience
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • Up to 50% travel

Responsibilities

  • Reliability strategy: Lead reliability for automated systems (e.g., conveyors, sorters, scanners, power systems) and base building systems.
  • Preventive and predictive maintenance: Develop and implement scalable preventive and predictive maintenance programs.
  • CMMS and KPIs: Lead CMMS strategy, KPIs (MTBF, MTTR), and downtime root cause analysis.
  • Vendor management: Manage vendor SLAs and the performance of third‑party maintenance providers.
  • Ops and Engineering coordination: Partner with Operations and Engineering to minimize facility downtime during peak and non‑peak periods.
  • Capital planning support: Provide asset lifecycle data and risk‑based prioritization to support capital planning.
  • Team leadership: Build and lead a geographically distributed team of RME managers, engineers, and technicians.
  • MHE design and installs: Lead MHE design and installs to meet various package mix demands.
  • Integrator and bidding: Work with MHE integrators and lead the competitive bidding process.
  • Project delivery: Project manage and execute project deliverables on time.
