The Director of Rehabilitation Services will develop, coordinate and supervise the technical operation and treatment activities of the Rehabilitation Services Department which are necessary to provide services to the disables, injured, or diseased patient and will demonstrate knowledge needed for assessment, care and treatment provided by the department for patients of all ages including neonate, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric populations.

Requirements

  • Graduate of a Therapy Program from and accredited school (Masters preferred).
  • Valid Louisiana therapy license in Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy or Speech Language Pathology.
  • CPR for Healthcare Providers to be completed within 30 days of hire.
  • Five or more years' clinical practice as a therapist and five or more years of management experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Consistently demonstrates positive. interpersonal relations with all constituencies - including other departments, patients, physicians and community.
  • Coordinates and integrates interdepartmental and intradepartmental services.
  • Develops and implements policies and procedures that guide and support the provision of services.
  • Recommends a sufficient number of qualified and competent people to provide the services of the department.
  • Determines the qualifications and competence of department employees.
  • Continuously assesses and improves the performance of services provided by the department.
  • Maintains quality control programs, as appropriate.
  • Orients and provides in-service training and continuing education to all department employees.
  • Recommends space and other resources needed by the department.
  • Participates in the selection of sources for needed services not provided by the department or the medical center.
  • Monitors quality outcomes and recommends improvements in performance relative to the following safety issues:
  • Mitigation of unsafe practices.
  • Identification and mitigation of risks and hazards.
  • Ensuring adequate and competent staff.
  • Adverse events resulting from non-standardized, fragmented, or ineffective information transfer at the time of patient discharge.
  • Hospital-acquired infections related to inadequate hand hygiene.
  • Adverse reactions to treatment given by PT, OT, or Speech Therapy.
