About The Position

The Director of Quality of Life is responsible to lead, direct, and consult with the Memory Care Directors (MCU), Social Service Directors (SSD), Activity Directors (AD) and Float Social Workers. Responsible to coordinate and implement programs and services for residents with cognitive impairment; to provide a therapeutic environment that maintains each resident's highest level of physical, social and psychological well-being and meet regulatory requirements. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, gerontology, or therapeutic recreation or at least 5 years direct resident experience;
  • At least three to five (3-5) years of healthcare experience
  • At least two (2) years' geriatric care and memory care director experience
  • Expertise in Alzheimer's and related dementias to meet State licensure requirements
  • Basic computer knowledge and ability with an aptitude to learn company software
  • Must be able to maintain confidentiality regarding patient and company proprietary information
  • Must have the ability to relate professionally and positively and work cooperatively with residents, families, and other employees at all levels

Nice To Haves

  • Masters Degree, strongly preferred

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates the development of the unit objectives, policies and procedures.
  • Collaborates with the directors to ensure objectives, polices, and procedures are met.
  • Consults to ensure sufficient staffing patterns are in place to accomplish stated objectives in standards of the special care unit and budgeted census number.
  • Prepares and provides facility leaders progress toward stated goals and new initiatives.
  • Creates related assessments and tools for admissions and discharges.
  • Creates and provides in-services and all continuing education for social service, memory care, and activity employees regarding the residents' disease process, behaviors, techniques and approaches. Pursues educational development in Alzheimer's disease and related disorders
  • Consults with the Activity Directors to ensure facility programming therapeutic, meets the needs of the residents and regulatory requirements as well as integrates residents with the community
  • Becomes a company-recognized expert and resource related to dementia care, Alzheimer's disease, Therapeutic Activities, and Social Services
  • Acts as a liaison facilitating communication between all facilities and facility directors.
  • Assist with new hire training
  • Assist with mock surveys
  • Assist with oversight of focus center, mentor/mentee connections, other miscellaneous assistance as needed
  • Provides in person site visits, consulting and mentorship of the ancillary departments through external and internal communications
  • Consults with Social Service Directors to ensure resident psychosocial needs, assessments, discharge planning, care plans, and regulatory requirements are met
