About The Position

This role is responsible for developing, leading, and maintaining a company-wide quality program for all construction operations. This position will lead initiatives to ensure consistent execution of quality assurance and control practices across all project phases from preconstruction through commissioning. This role will manage the implementation of ISO 9001:2015-based quality systems for selecting public or private projects requiring certification or ISO-aligned processes. This position plays a vital role in maintaining client trust, minimizing risk, and delivering excellence in all phases of the quality process.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in construction management, civil engineering, architecture, or a related field preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience in commercial vertical construction, with at least 5 years in a QA/QC leadership role.
  • Fluency in the Company’s QCM processes, including implementation of design quality control, the Six-Step Quality Control process, quality tracking and reporting.
  • Exhibit excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Valid Driver’s License.
  • Solid problem-solving skills and ability to exhibit consistent and competent judgement.
  • Proven management capabilities having demonstrated the ability to delegate tasks and motivate direct reports
  • Extensive expertise in quality systems implementation, field quality control, and trade coordination.
  • Familiarity with industry codes and standards (IBC, ASTM, ACI, AISC, ICC, etc.).
  • Proficiency with construction technology platforms (e.g., Project Sight, Bluebeam, Track3D, MS365, Oracle OPC, etc.).

Nice To Haves

  • Preferred certifications: Certified Quality Auditor (CQA), Certified Manager of Quality/Organizational Excellence (CMQ/OE), Construction Quality Management (CQM-C) by USACE/NAVFAC.

Responsibilities

  • Implement and manage the company-wide Quality Management System (QMS) for all projects.
  • Provide strategic direction and oversight for all QA/QC policies, procedures, and field practices across multiple business units and regions.
  • Provide guidance, leadership, and direction to a national team of senior quality control managers, field QC staff, and operations personnel to ensure consistency and excellence.
  • Promote consistency in core roles and responsibilities of all roles within the quality control teams. ISO 9001 Certification & Compliance (Select Projects)
  • Lead the development and implementation of ISO 9001:2015-compliant QMS documentation, including quality manuals, procedures, and records.
  • Management Representative for ISO-certified projects, ensuring compliance through internal audits, risk assessments, and performance evaluations.
  • Coordinate with third-party auditors and certification bodies for initial ISO certification, surveillance audits, and re-certifications.
  • Educate project teams and business units on ISO requirements and ensure appropriate training and document control practices are in place. Project Execution & Oversight
  • Develop standard processes for reviewing project-specific quality plans (PSQPs) to ensure they meet contractual, regulatory, and corporate standards.
  • Provide oversight of regional quality audits and inspections, ensuring effective implementation of plans, submittal reviews, mock-ups, and testing protocols.
  • Risk Management & Continuous Improvement
  • Utilize root cause analysis tools and nonconformance data to identify systemic issues and develop proactive improvement strategies.
  • Analyze performance data and implement metrics/KPIs to track quality trends both regionally and across the enterprise and recommend improvement opportunities.
  • Training & Organizational Development
  • Develop and deliver training programs focused on quality control standards, ISO 9001 principles, inspection protocols, and lessons learned.
  • Identify regional best practices and promote adoption across the enterprise.
  • Identify gaps in current training QC training resources and work with CIT to develop learning and training resources to fill gaps.
  • Identify university programs, technical schools, and other pathways to recruit quality control professionals at the college/university level. Client & Stakeholder Relations
  • Support preconstruction teams with design-phase constructability reviews and specification development to improve project quality outcomes.
  • Systems Standardization & Technology Integration
  • Standardize and manage the selection, implementation, and maintenance of software systems that support the QA/QC process (e.g., InEight, Project Sight, Build Cognition, internal tools, etc.).
  • Develop company-wide protocols for consistent quality documentation, issue tracking, inspections, and reporting within digital platforms.
  • Collaborate with IT, VDC, Design & Sustainability, project teams, and vendors to optimize software functionality for field and office users.
  • Ensure consistent training and user adoption of QA/QC technologies across all regions and departments.
  • Stay current with emerging construction quality technologies and make recommendations for continuous improvement.
