About The Position

The Director of Quality & Food Safety (Q&FS) is directly responsible for continuously improving product and process, while leading a team focused on first pass quality for all Bridgetown plants. Specific areas of responsibility include Plant quality and food safety (including Sanitation), supplier quality, and customer quality.

Requirements

  • BS in Microbiology or Food Science
  • 10+ years of experience in Quality Assurance (Food, Beverage and/or Nutraceutical)
  • 5+ years of plant-based food safety and quality experience
  • Experience with industry standards and regulations such as: SQF, BRC, HACCP, GFSI
  • Experience with allergen management, kosher, organic certifications
  • Ability to understand and communicate instructions in English

Responsibilities

  • Lead team of QA professionals, in order to ensure oversight of all appropriate quality systems
  • Interface with customers with Compliance team on quality, food safety requirements, investigations, or improvement plans
  • Assure compliance with all customer requirements, audit standards and regulatory requirements by working with plant QA, Operations, and Maintenance teams
  • Partner cross-functionally to integrate Q&FS perspective into business planning and execution
  • Develop and implement appropriate strategies to drive continuous improvement and regulatory compliance
  • Develop programs to track and reduce HOLDs and non-conformances
  • Develop, implement, verify and test effectiveness of quality systems affecting all aspects of manufacturing
  • Review and analyze data in order to recognize trends and opportunities for improvement/corrective action
  • Establish programs and training with all appropriate personnel, GMPs, HACCP, and other quality systems
  • Ensure supplier quality issues from the plants are investigated and addressed in partnership with Compliance Team
  • Ensure customer quality issues are investigated and robust corrective action/preventive action plans are developed and implemented as defined
  • Maintain proper departmental staffing levels and employee performance evaluations
  • Overall succession planning and development of Quality Department staff
  • Travel up to 25-50% of time as required to support Oregon and Tennessee sites
  • Participate in New Product Development initiatives as part of a cross functional team
