Position Summary: The Director of Project Management leads the Project Management, Engineering and Installation Departments to ensure the successful execution of all projects in alignment with company goals and core values. This leader is responsible for departmental performance, driving project excellence, financial health, and client satisfaction. Beyond operational leadership, this role is a steward of company culture, ensuring that every project, process, and partnership reflects the organization's values. The Director will also develop, standardize, and continuously improve SOPs, to maintain the highest standards of safety, quality, and ethical conduct. This position collaborates with ownership and senior leadership on strategy, staff development, and long-term growth initiatives, including new market opportunities and potential satellite operations.

Requirements

Minimum 5 years of experience in a leadership role, in construction, millwork, or architectural woodworking.
Minimum 5 years of Proven success leading and developing multi-level teams, grounded in respect, integrity, and accountability.
Strong understanding of project financials, including estimating, billing, job costing, and margin control.
Expert knowledge of project lifecycle management, scheduling, and resource planning.
Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
Proficiency with standard office and PM tools (e.g., Innergy, Procore, Revu, Trimble, ProjectSite).

Nice To Haves

Experience in architectural woodwork or millwork manufacturing.
Background in strategic growth initiatives or multi-location operations.
Familiarity with Lean, continuous improvement, or innovation-focused methodologies.
Demonstrated capability in subcontractor qualification and performance management.

Responsibilities

Lead and manage the Project Management, Engineering and Installation teams.
Foster a positive, solutions-focused work environment.
Maintain hands-on oversight of all active projects to ensure scope, schedule, and budget adherence.
Define measurable goals and KPIs for team members, incorporating Integrity and performance consistency into evaluations.
Promote consistency by enforcing company processes, quality standards, and best practices across all projects.
Partner with Sales, Production and Estimating to balance growth with risk management, ensuring company opportunities match company capabilities.
Oversee project financial health and departmental performance indicators, including profitability, budget accuracy, change management, and schedule adherence.
Review project reporting and analyze trends to identify opportunities for margin improvement and reduce operational costs.
Collaborate cross-functionally with Sales, Estimating, Operations, Production, Engineering, and Installation to proactively resolve project challenges, maintain seamless communication, and create positive and effective partnerships.
Support Project Managers on complex or high-value projects, representing the company’s values in key client or contractor meetings.
Champion the creation, documentation, and evolution of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) that promote consistency, accountability, and service excellence.
Establish SOP review and training cycles, encouraging innovative suggestions from field and PM personnel.
Audit departmental adherence to SOPs to ensure continuous improvement, learning, and cultural alignment.
Develop and maintain comprehensive onboarding and training programs grounded in the six core values, ensuring team members embody these principles daily.
Mentor direct reports in technical, interpersonal, and leadership skills with a focus on positivity, problem-solving, and professionalism.
Foster a collaborative department culture where continuous learning, feedback, and respect drive performance.
Build individualized development plans to support growth, succession planning, and cultural stewardship.
Partner with HR and leadership to define department staffing needs and recruit candidates whose work ethic and approach reflect our core values.
Manage team performance through consistent feedback and value-based accountability.
Champion engagement and retention through recognition programs that celebrate Commitment, Positivity, and Innovation.
Develop new and maintain partnerships with outside contractors and subcontractors to expand project scope, increase capacity, and shorten project durations through strategic collaboration and diversified expertise.
Participate in executive meetings as needed, contributing insights on operational capacity, project performance, and cultural health.
Lead value-driven initiatives for process optimization, technology adoption, and resourcing strategies.
Support strategic evaluations of new market opportunities and satellite locations with SOP and subcontractor governance standards in mind.
Represent the department with professionalism, ensuring every strategic effort upholds Integrity and Service Excellence.
Report to the Vice President/President on departmental KPIs, project outcomes, staffing, risk mitigation, and cultural milestones.
Develop transparent reporting tools and dashboards that monitor project performance, SOP compliance, and subcontractor evaluations.
