About The Position

A large, high-acuity acute care hospital in Fort Worth, Texas is seeking an experienced Director of Progressive Care Unit (PCU) to provide enterprise-level nursing leadership across multiple specialized inpatient units. This role offers 24/7 operational and clinical accountability for progressive care, oncology/blood cancer, and renal transplant services, with a strong emphasis on quality outcomes, staff engagement, patient experience, and fiscal performance.

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of recent acute care PCU leadership experience at the Manager or Director level
  • Supervisor or Charge Nurse experience does not qualify
  • BSN required
  • Active Texas RN license or compact RN license
  • BLS and ACLS certifications

Nice To Haves

  • MSN or higher degree
  • Experience leading multiple inpatient units in a high-volume or tertiary care environment

Responsibilities

  • Provide shared 24/7 accountability for progressive and specialty care units
  • Ensure delivery of safe, high-quality, patient-centered care in alignment with professional nursing standards and regulatory requirements
  • Drive compliance with infection prevention, patient safety goals, and accreditation standards
  • Partner with interdisciplinary teams to optimize care delivery, patient flow, and throughput
  • Promote evidence-based practices and continuous performance improvement initiatives
  • Champion a patient- and family-centered care environment
  • Lead initiatives that improve patient satisfaction, communication, and service excellence
  • Ensure consistent application of evidence-based communication and rounding practices
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a large, diverse nursing workforce
  • Support onboarding, education, and professional development of leaders and staff
  • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and engagement
  • Identify opportunities to support service line growth and operational optimization
  • Participate in organizational performance improvement and strategic initiatives
  • Maintain personal and professional development aligned with leadership expectations
  • Maintain accountability for operating and capital budgets across assigned units
  • Monitor labor productivity, resource utilization, and cost containment initiatives
  • Promote cost-effective practices while maintaining quality and patient safety
  • Oversight of multiple inpatient units , including: Two Progressive Care Units (PCUs), Oncology / Blood Cancer Unit, Renal Transplant Unit
  • Total Beds: Approximately 78
  • FTE Oversight: Approximately 200
  • Units operate at consistently high census
  • Reports directly to the Vice President of Nursing Operations
