About The Position

The Director of Programs is in a leadership position within the agency and is responsible for the oversight of an agency-wide area/department. Knowledge of the department system and skills in the management of personnel, finance and program development are essential. The ability to forge positive relationships with internal customers at all levels, employees at all levels and outside customers at all levels, is crucial to success in this position. Director of Programs works closely with all other Program Directors in the design and facilitation of the program milieu and service delivery system, quality assurance measurements and agency goals. Contributes to the Glove House high performance culture by exhibiting our values and providing quality results that keep Glove House as the premier provider of child, family and behavioral health solutions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field required; related master’s degree or certification/licensure/trade training preferred
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and driving record in accordance with agency standards.
  • 10+ years’ experience working in a specific department. Supervisory experience preferred.
  • Community resources, Trauma Informed Care Practices, State and Federal regulations, departmental area (ie, IT, Property Management, Philanthropy, etc.)
  • Perform under strong demands in fast-paced, diverse environment
  • Handle confidential information appropriately
  • Perform at a high level of autonomy, with minimal supervision
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedural manuals.
  • Write exceptional reports and correspondence. Utilizing computer and standard Microsoft Office, learn new computer programming (ie Myevolve, Paycom, et al.)
  • Speak effectively before groups of customers, employees, County representatives, State regulatory personnel.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Work on multiple tasks, while maintaining high attention to detail, accuracy and quality.
  • Commit to effectively and efficiently providing high levels of customer satisfaction with positive service delivery results
  • Interact effectively with individuals/families from diverse backgrounds.

Responsibilities

  • Provides overall oversight to assigned departmental support area; provide direct supervision to staff in assigned departmental area in accordance with all Glove House, state and regulatory requirements.
  • Guided by organizational values and trauma informed practice in all interactions.
  • Treats all children, families, staff and ancillary providers with respect and courtesy.
  • Demonstrates and models sensitivity to the cultural background of children, families and co-workers.
  • Assures that all processes within the Department operate in compliance with applicable NYS codes, rules and regulations and with Glove House policies and procedures.
  • Provides supervision and coaching to staff within the departments and co-leadership with teams within the agency.
  • Conducts the fiscal management within the assigned Department in a manner to assure that adequate resources are available to meet program needs, while maintaining the fiscal viability of the department.
  • Participates in the development of all Agency/Department policy and procedures to ensure that operations are in conformance with appropriate regulations and standards.
  • Directly responsible for activities within the Department including, but ot limited to, design and oversight of program evaluation (effectiveness/outcomes) and associated monitoring/measuring activities.
  • Responsible for hiring, coaching, training, supervision and evaluation of department staff.
  • Provides oversight and ensures adequate staff coverage is scheduled for department needs.
  • Assures all documentation is completed in a timely fashion.
  • Will actively participate as a member of leadership team.
  • Consistently attends staff meetings and provides leadership, agenda and coaching during team/staff meetings.
  • Assists Program Directors, Program Managers, and all team members navigate and benefit from the departmental support.
  • Available for on-call responsibilities as assigned.
  • Available to provide managerial oversight across the agency, as needed.
  • Assured us that Program Manager and Supervisory staff are up to date with compliance and training requirements (physical, driver license, staff training etc.)
  • Participate in all Glove House strategic planning goals, including risk management and Quality Assurance plans
  • Responsible for assisting in the research and development of best practices and new initiatives to meet the changing needs of children and families in the community.
  • Acts as a leader to the Department in fostering the principles of a learning organization through continuous education and the provision of in-service training throughout the agency.
  • Assists Human Resources with all personnel actions within the department’s, including but not limited to hiring, firing, supervision, evaluation and training, to ensure that adequate numbers of qualified personnel are available to meet program needs.
  • Consistently attends mandated agency and department meetings and participates in standing agency committees and community committees as assigned.
  • Represents Glove House at state and local forums, developing collaborative relations with other stakeholders in the community and promoting the interests of the agency.
