About The Position

The Director of Programs and Initiatives provides leadership in the development, coordination, and advancement of strategic programs and special initiatives that support the President’s vision and priorities. The position enhances student, faculty, and community engagement; promotes a positive and inclusive campus culture; and fosters opportunities for leadership and professional development within the campus community. Responsibilities include administering signature programs; collaborating with student and faculty leadership bodies, including CSUN, GPSA, and the Faculty Senate; and seeking new ways to promote meaningful engagement across the university. The director also identifies and pursues opportunities for external support, including grants, sponsorships, and partnerships, to expand the reach and impact of presidential initiatives. Reporting to the Chief of Staff, the director works closely with the Office of the President, senior leadership, and external stakeholders to ensure that initiatives align with institutional goals. Serving as a key collaborator across administrative and academic units, the director implements programs that align with institutional priorities and strengthen the university’s profile locally, nationally, and globally. With responsibilities that may evolve as new opportunities and presidential priorities emerge, the position requires adaptability and broad-based expertise.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
  • At least five years of administrative work experience in a complex professional setting.
  • Credentials must be obtained prior to the employment start date.

  • Experience with Workday, PeopleSoft, and other information systems in use at UNLV.
