Director of Product

Property MeldRapid City, SD

About The Position

This role is for someone uniquely skilled at turning deep customer knowledge into product decisions that actually move the needle. You will translate customer reality into product strategy, and product strategy into outcomes that drive retention, expansion, and long-term competitive advantage for Property Meld. ABOUT PROPERTY MELD At Property Meld, we are on a mission to radically improve property maintenance operations. Maintenance is one of the most broken workflows in property management and we are fixing it with intelligent, proactive software that reduces chaos, creates visibility, and delivers better experiences for property managers, residents, vendors, and owners. We sit on one of the largest maintenance data sets in the market and are entering our next phase by activating that data to power intelligence and automation . This is how we unlock step-change value for our customers and stakeholders. We are customer-obsessed, outcome-driven, and scaling through $10 to $15M ARR. The decisions made in product over the next two years will define our category position and this role will directly shape that trajectory. Property Meld operates as a B2B2C, multi-sided platform . Historically strong in SMB, we are now expanding up-market into multifamily and enterprise. This creates a rare opportunity to build for complexity, scale, and network effects all at once. As the product leader at Property Meld, you will set the vision, own the roadmap, and partner deeply with Engineering, Customer Success, Sales, and executive leadership to ship product that customers actually use and value. WHAT YOU'LL DO 🔍 Property maintenance is operationally complex and the people running it feel that complexity every single day. Coordinators are managing dozens of open work orders, chasing vendors, fielding resident calls, and reporting up to owners, all in real time. You will know that world well enough to understand not just what slows them down, but what it costs them when it does. You are not here to manage a backlog. You are here to make high-confidence product bets grounded in real customer insight, the operational reality, the behavioral patterns, and the business outcomes driving them, and then work alongside Engineering, Design, and Go-to-Market until those bets pay off. AI is central to how we build and how we create value. You will have a clear, grounded point of view on what AI can actually do for property managers, not what the hype promises, and you will use that judgment to drive decisions that compound over time.

Requirements

  • 5+ years in product management, with at least 2 years in a senior or lead PM role
  • A track record of B2B SaaS products that users actually adopted and retained, not just shipped
  • Deep experience working alongside engineering teams: specs, acceptance criteria, iteration cycles, retrospectives
  • Demonstrated ability to use data to challenge and change your own assumptions
  • Exceptional writing and communication, you can write a one-pager that shifts the direction of a conversation

Nice To Haves

  • Background in proptech, real estate, field service, or operations software
  • Hands-on experience designing or integrating AI-powered features, LLM workflows, intelligent automation, predictive tooling
  • Experience in PLG or hybrid PLG/SLG environments
  • Time inside a company between 30-150 employees, you understand what it means to operate at that constraint level

Responsibilities

  • Define and own the product vision, not a document in Confluence, but a living point of view that shapes every major decision we make
  • Turn company strategy into a roadmap that is ambitious, honestly sequenced, and defensible
  • Own continuous discovery: customer interviews, usage patterns, win/loss analysis, churn signals, as a habit, not a quarterly event
  • Build direct relationships with coordinators, property managers, and operators, understanding not just what frustrates them, but why it frustrates them and what it costs them
  • Go beyond feature requests to the behavioral patterns and business outcomes driving them, then make that case clearly to leadership
  • Partner with Engineering to ship quality product on a predictable cadence. No waterfall. No chaos.
  • Ensure every feature has an activation and adoption path before it ships, in partnership with Customer Success and Sales
  • Own the go-to-market narrative for every release: what changed, why it matters, and how it works
  • Define success metrics before work begins, tying product outcomes to customer business outcomes, not just usage stats
  • Lead the evaluation and integration of AI capabilities that create real efficiency gains for our users, not AI for the press release

Benefits

  • Competitive base salary + bonus: $175,000 - $245,000
  • Healthcare through Wellmark Blue Cross Blue Shield
  • Dental and Vision through Beam
  • 401K through Guideline
  • Four weeks PTO, front-loaded to hire date
  • Personalized remote work equipment
