About The Position

The Director of Product Development at Schwan's Company is responsible for overseeing the development of new products, particularly in the Asian cuisine category, by leveraging research and development resources from both Schwan's USA and CJ CheilJedang. This role involves managing synergy projects, coordinating product development efforts, and ensuring the quality and competitiveness of frozen food products.

Requirements

  • Bachelor or foreign equivalent degree in Food Engineering or a related field.
  • 7 years of experience in planning and managing new product development, including frozen food products, food development processes, cost reduction strategies, and manufacturing procedures within a frozen foods manufacturer.

Responsibilities

  • Manage development of frozen food such as Asian dumplings & snacks, and processed meat products design including ingredients, recipe development, process design, and cost savings.
  • Manage and support the research and development work for Asian processed foods by leveraging all R&D resources in the US.
  • Manage, communicate, and facilitate synergy projects between the company and foreign headquarters R&D globally.
  • Manage and support Technology Synergy projects to lead US Foods Business growth through technology exchange in R&D.
  • Manage and support Process Synergy projects regarding Stage Gate Process improvement in all R&D organizations in the US.
  • Facilitate & coordinate Synergy Projects teams in each subsidiary in the US to execute and achieve project goals within the recorded time.
  • Participate in all synergy project teams to support continuous collaboration and communication.
  • Ensure subordinates conduct themselves in a manner consistent with company mission, values, code of ethics, policies, and other standards of conduct.
  • Manage product development for food service and retail by planning short-term and long-term projects, hiring R&D professionals, instructing subordinates to survey food markets and competitor products, devising plans for commercialization, and researching new food categories and innovative product items.
