About The Position

Under the supervision of the Chief District Court Judge, coordinates the operation of the probation department pursuant to court order and statute. Provides executive level oversight of pre-sentence investigations and the supervision of probationers insuring all conditions of probation are met; including the management of substance abuse screening on both misdemeanor and felony offenders. Coordinates the operations of the probation department and supervises the probation officers and the departmental support staff. Accordingly, is accountable to the chief judge for the development and implementation of rehabilitation and diversionary programs; and reports to the Court Administrator on administrative and budgetary functions related to the department.

Requirements

  • Master’s Degree in criminal justice, social work or closely related area.
  • Five to seven years of progressively expansive experience equivalent in criminal justice program development and implementation.
  • Experience in an administrative and supervisory capacity.
  • Must sign a Monroe County Court Employee model code of conduct.
  • Must become a member of the Michigan Association of District Court Probation Officer (MADCPO) within first (1) year and renew annually.
  • Must attain certification by the Michigan Certification Board of Addiction Professionals (MCBAP) within first (2) years of employment and maintain certification in order to conduct alcohol assessments.
  • Attend SCAO or MJI trainings as required for the position.
  • Must take the LEIN certification test & be fingerprinted.
  • Serve as the court’s LEIN Terminal Agency Coordinator (TAC) Officer
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license.
