Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree required
  • 7+ years management experience
  • Demonstrated experience overseeing a large, national trading platform
  • Demonstrated experience partnering with and servicing advisors across a firm
  • Demonstrated experience implementing trading systems and procedures
  • Demonstrated experience managing high-volume teams
  • Comfortable speaking up and driving initiatives forward
  • Interested in making a significant impact
  • Excels in a fast-paced, high-engagement environment with an extraordinary desire to innovate
  • Demonstrated leadership skills. Must mentor other team members which includes training, mentorship, feedback on professional development, and supervisory duties
  • Highly professional team player, able to work well with all levels of the firm, as well as with clients
  • Highly proficient in portfolio management and trading software , including the Microsoft Office Suite
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Adaptability and flexibility are required, ability to work under pressure and beyond standard working hours during busy periods to meet tight deadlines
  • Must be organized, meticulous, dependable, adaptable, detail and service-oriented and able to multitask
  • Strong sense of professionalism and discretion required

Responsibilities

  • Manage the daily activities of the Portfolio Management team and ensure there is a proper structure for supporting the firm’s trading and portfolio management goals
  • Constantly iterate and improve the accuracy, efficiency, and scale of the portfolio management function in the areas of team structure, operating model, enhancements to existing software packages, evaluating new software, etc.
  • As part of the investment team, identify problem areas and recommend appropriate and strategic solutions in the areas of portfolio implementation and maintenance, team structure, cross departmental communication, etc.
  • Coordinate the integration of Investment Committee’s (IC) recommendations into the portfolio management software ensuring alignment with IC guidelines with client specific restrictions and directives as communicated by the client’s advisory team
  • Ensure implementation of the Investment Committee’s recommendations regarding asset class, market cap, sector, and individual security weightings into Modera’s client management and portfolio management systems
  • Establish and implement Portfolio Management guidelines and ensure that trade recommendations align with the IC guidelines
  • Supervise and develop senior portfolio managers and other members of the department; conduct ongoing feedback and periodic performance reviews
  • Work alongside Operations and Client Service teams to integrate the assets of newly acquired firms into Modera’s reporting and trading software(s)
  • Work effectively with team members, other firm professionals, and departments (including marketing, client service, administration, compliance, and operations) in successfully advancing the goals and objectives of the firm
  • Act in alignment with user (advisors, clients, internal MWM staff) needs and system functionality
  • Improve the frequency and consistency of portfolio rebalancing as part of the United Client Experience
  • Lead regular team meetings and department-related projects
  • Provide periodic reports for the ELT and other management committees
