About The Position

Position Summary: The Director of Project Management Office (PMO) is a senior IT leadership role responsible for building, standing up, and scaling a modern PMO from the ground up in direct alignment with the Firm’s IT Strategic Plan and business objectives. This leader will establish disciplined, transparent, and value-driven delivery practices that enable technology projects to become an advantage to the Firm. Reporting to the Chief Information Officer, the Director will partner closely with IT, Information Security, the Office of the General Counsel, Practice Management and Practice Group leaders, and senior administration to ensure initiatives are prioritized, governed, delivered, and measured in a way that advances client service, user experience, security, and operational excellence. This position is ideal for a leader who thrives in environments where structure needs to be created, credibility must be earned, and results matter. Key Responsibilities: Build and Lead the PMO: Design and implement a PMO operating model from the ground up, including governance, intake, prioritization, delivery standards, and reporting. Define clear roles, responsibilities, and expectations for project and program delivery across IT and cross-functional teams. Recruit, develop, and mentor Project Managers and delivery leaders as the PMO scales. Portfolio & Value Management: Establish portfolio governance that aligns initiatives with Firm strategy, risk posture, and capacity. Implement value scoring, benefit realization tracking, and post-implementation reviews. Maintain a transparent, prioritized roadmap that balances innovation, security, operational stability, and technical debt reduction. Disciplined Delivery & Execution Excellence: Standardize delivery practices (waterfall, agile, hybrid) appropriate to the work and culture. Ensure consistent management of scope, schedule, cost, dependencies, risks, and issues. Embed change management, communications, and adoption planning into every initiative so changes stick. Metrics, Dashboards & Executive Insight: Design and maintain executive dashboards covering delivery health, benefits realization, risk, and capacity. Use data to guide prioritization, funding decisions, and continuous improvement. Support OKRs and measurable outcomes tied to experience, security, and operational goals. Partnering & Stakeholder Leadership: Act as a trusted partner to IT Directors, Information Security, Practice Management and Practice Group leaders, and senior administration. Facilitate trade-off discussions with clarity and transparency. Represent delivery status and risks to executive leadership with confidence and credibility. Governance, Risk & Compliance Alignment: Ensure delivery practices support ISO 27001, security-by-design principles, and audit readiness. Integrate risk management, vendor oversight, and dependency tracking into portfolio execution. Support consistent, policy-aligned change and release practices. Other duties as assigned. Job Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Business Administration, or a related field; advanced degree preferred. 10+ years of experience in IT project, program, or portfolio management. Demonstrated success building or transforming a PMO from the ground up. Experience operating in complex, professional-services or regulated environments (law firm, consulting, financial services, or similar). Strong understanding of portfolio governance, value realization, and delivery metrics. Proven ability to lead through influence and drive change across senior stakeholders. Exceptional communication, facilitation, and executive-level presentation skills. Experience supporting ISO-aligned environments or regulated security programs preferred. Familiarity with agile, hybrid, and DevOps-influenced delivery models preferred. Experience integrating change management and adoption into delivery practices preferred. Requirements
