About The Position

We are seeking a strategic and hands-on Director of Planning to lead the establishment and execution of a world-class Sales, Inventory, and Operations Planning (SIOP) process from the ground up. This senior leader will design and implement a sophisticated capacity model focused on maximizing utilization of our refurbishment equipment, while tightly integrating sales forecasts, current inventory levels, and operational constraints. The role will also own master data governance for our new ERP system implementation and drive improved forecast accuracy and supply chain performance. This is a builder role ideal for a leader who thrives in process development, cross-functional alignment, and data-driven decision-making in an asset-intensive, refurbishment-heavy environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field or equivalent experience required.
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in supply chain planning, with 5+ years in senior leadership roles (e.g., Director/Mgr of SIOP, Supply Planning, Demand Planning, or Production Planning).
  • Proven success implementing or maturing SIOP/S&OP processes from inception in manufacturing or equipment service/refurbishment environments.
  • Hands-on production planning experience — must include developing and managing master production schedules (MPS), detailed production scheduling, shop floor execution support, resource sequencing, and optimizing manufacturing/production operations to meet demand while managing constraints in a discrete or refurbishment setting.
  • Strong, direct experience with Salesforce (CRM) — must include proficiency in leveraging Salesforce data for demand forecasting, sales pipeline integration into planning processes, opportunity/forecast reporting, and cross-functional data flows to support SIOP and ERP alignment.
  • Hands-on experience building and using capacity models, especially for asset-intensive operations involving refurbishment, repair, or aftermarket services.
  • Strong ERP implementation experience with focus on master data, planning modules, and integration.
  • Advanced analytical skills; proficiency in Excel, Power BI/Tableau, and planning tools.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in equipment manufacturing, heavy industry, or aftermarket/refurbishment sectors.
  • Knowledge of lean principles, theory of constraints, or advanced planning techniques applied to refurb cycles.
  • APICS CPIM, CSCP, CFPIM, or similar certifications.

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and continuously mature a comprehensive SIOP framework from scratch, including monthly cadence, governance structure, cross-functional reviews (demand, supply, pre-SIOP, executive SIOP), KPIs, and escalation protocols.
  • Facilitate alignment across Sales, Operations, Finance, and Procurement, to balance demand and supply, optimize inventory, and support business growth objectives.
  • Build and maintain an advanced capacity planning model that prioritizes and maximizes utilization of refurbishment equipment and assets.
  • Integrate sales forecasts, historical refurbishment data, current inventory positions, lead times, turnaround cycles, and resource constraints (labor, equipment, materials).
  • Develop scenario planning capabilities (“what-if” analysis) to evaluate trade-offs, identify bottlenecks, and recommend strategies such as shift optimization, prioritization rules, preventive maintenance scheduling, or selective outsourcing.
  • Drive initiatives to increase effective capacity and reduce downtime in refurb processes while maintaining quality and cost targets.
  • Own and govern master data integrity (items, BOMs, routings, work centers, planning parameters, lead times) in the new ERP system.
  • Partner with IT, operations, and functional teams during ERP configuration, data migration, testing, go-live, and post-go-live stabilization.
  • Ensure accurate master data supports reliable forecasting, production scheduling, and capacity planning outputs.
  • Oversee demand planning processes in collaboration with Sales and Marketing to enhance forecast accuracy and reduce bias/variability.
  • Translate forecasts into actionable supply plans, inventory targets (safety stock, cycle stock, replenishment), and production schedules.
  • Monitor and improve key metrics including forecast accuracy, inventory turns, service levels, capacity utilization, working capital efficiency, and on-time performance.
