About The Position

The Director of Planned Giving reports to the Assistant Vice Chancellor of Planned Giving and is responsible for qualifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding high level prospects capable of making major planned gifts to Washington University. This position is within the Office of Planned Giving and is part of the Development Vertical. Travel is required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Relevant experience of 7 years.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience soliciting gifts of $250,000 or more.
  • Master's degree.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for university planned and deferred gift activity including qualification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of a portfolio of 60 donors and prospects in an assigned geographic territory.
  • Assists in major and principal gift solicitations.
  • Establishes specific gift production and donor contact goals on an annual basis.
  • Works closely with all levels of development officers in a territory to ensure short and long-term fundraising success.
  • Coordinates with the territory Executive Director in reaching the planned giving total for the territory.
  • Serves as a resource for all planned giving activities and presentations.
  • Works closely with subject matter experts in the Philanthropic Strategy Vertical to meet fundraising priorities.
  • Helps to create and foster a culture of collaboration and teamwork.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
