About The Position

Eastern Washington University is seeking a Director of Philanthropy. The philanthropy director will lead fundraising efforts for the College of Arts, Humanities & Social Sciences (CAHSS). In partnership with Student Affairs, the philanthropy director will also lead priority fundraising efforts to support the diverse needs of Eastern's student population. The Director of Philanthropy, CAHSS, works collaboratively with University leadership, program directors, faculty and key volunteers to develop and carry out the annual fundraising plan for the College. The position is responsible for cultivating meaningful relationships with potential and current Major Gift ($25,000+) level donors to Eastern Washington University, managing a portfolio of 120 donors and prospective donors, and facilitating all phases of the gift cycle.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree.
  • Demonstrated successful professional advancement and/or fundraising-related experience, preferably in higher education.
  • A demonstrated commitment to the mission of Eastern Washington University and diversity, equity and inclusion.
  • Ability to work functions in the evenings and on weekends and periodic domestic travel.
  • A minimum of three (3) to five (5) years of prior fundraising experience in successfully cultivating and securing major gifts of $10,000 or more.
  • Consistent record of building solid relationships with prospects and donors.
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, listening, and written communication skills.
  • Ability to juggle multiple priorities and command strong organizational skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office - Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
  • Familiarity with CRM fundraising software.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and carry out the annual fundraising plan for the College of Arts, Humanities & Social Sciences.
  • Discover and qualify individuals as major gift prospects to find new support for the college.
  • Maintain and elevate current major gift relationships with individuals, foundations, and companies.
  • Partner with the university's Student Affairs unit to identify priority major gift fundraising opportunities.
  • Cultivate meaningful relationships with potential and current Major Gift level donors.
  • Manage a portfolio of 120 donors and prospective donors.
  • Facilitate all phases of the gift cycle, including initiating contact, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding donors.
