About The Position

Under the general direction of the Chief Medical Officer (CMO), the Director of Pharmacy is responsible for providing direct patient service by preparing and dispensing medications, giving pharmacological information to multidisciplinary health care team and monitoring patient drug therapies.

Requirements

  • Graduate degree from an accredited pharmacy college recognized by the American Council of Pharmaceutical Education (ACPE).
  • Valid state pharmacist license.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to meet and communicate effectively with the general public.
  • At least 3 years of management experience preferred.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with the 340B Drug Discount Program preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain sound pharmacological policies and procedures.
  • Prepare medications by reviewing and interpreting physician orders and detecting therapeutic incompatibilities.
  • Dispense medications by compounding (when needed), packaging, and labeling pharmaceuticals.
  • Control medications by monitoring drug therapies; advising interventions.
  • Provide pharmacological information by answering questions and requests of health care professionals and counseling patients on drug therapies.
  • Comply with state and federal drug laws as regulated by the state board of pharmacy, the drug enforcement administration, and the food and drug administration.
  • Maintain records for controlled substances and remove outdated and damaged drugs from the pharmacy inventory.
  • Supervise the work results of support personnel.
  • Protect patients and technicians by adhering to infection-control protocols.
  • Maintain a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Participate in the clinic performance improvement program.
  • Promote FCHC and its services to area residents.
  • Attend all scheduled staff meetings.
  • Assist with preparation and submission of grant applications, as required.
  • Assist with maintaining compliance with all laws, regulations, and guidelines related to the delivery of health services in a federally funded health center.
  • Handle all communication in a professional, positive manner.
