The Director of Pharmacy is responsible for the overall planning, directing, and management of pharmacy services including the hospital pharmacy, retail pharmacies, specialty pharmacy, and ambulatory clinical pharmacy services. Implements and oversees pharmacy programs and practices to further the mission and vision of St. Peter’s Health. Is responsible for clinical quality, safety, compliance, regulatory, and accreditation standards related to pharmacy services and operations. Develops financial operating and capital budgets, ensures financial performance, and leads the development of growth initiatives within pharmacy. Ensures that pharmacy services are meeting and exceeding internal and external customer expectations. Consults with and advises medical staff regarding drugs and pharmaceuticals. Requires excellent communication skills and establishes positive working relationship with physicians, leadership, and staff throughout the organization. Exhibits emotional intelligence, and servant leadership, to develop strong relationships. Oversees pharmacy team development, staff selection, performance management, competency, retention and evaluation. The Director of Pharmacy is an engaged and contributing member of the St. Peter’s Health Leadership team that collaborates and serves effectively across the organization at all levels for the advancement of pharmacy and the organization as a whole. Collaborates with residency program leaders to ensure quality and compliance with accreditation standards. Collaborates with pharmacy residency program preceptors and leaders to ensure pharmacy resident growth, development, and wellness.

  • Must have extensive knowledge of drug therapies, pharmacologic treatment of disease states, and the cost benefit of drug therapies.
  • Knowledge of best practices for medication safety.
  • Knowledge of state and federal laws and programs pertaining to the practice of pharmacy and the business of pharmacy.
  • Knowledge of and ability to effectively use technology in the practice and business of pharmacy.
  • Minimum of 5 years of pharmacy practice experience required.
  • Previous pharmacy leadership experience required.
  • Licensed as Registered Pharmacist in good standing in Montana.
  • Demonstrates ability to multi-task and problem solve.

  • Master's Degree/Doctorate Degree preferred
  • Experience with the concept of Shared Governance preferred.
