About The Position

In addition to the responsibilities listed below, this position is also responsible for championing the work of major, medium, and smaller-sized system and non-system projects that have regional and/or inter-regional impact on members, providers, and employees by establishing programs and organizing initial stakeholder engagements; planning the implementation of the overall project budget and ensuring the budget is followed by stakeholders and vendors; leading short- and long-term goal attainment by using advanced knowledge to drive strategies and solutions to optimize processes; triaging issues and identifying requirements of data needed to inform evidence-based decision; determines necessary data requirements and discrepancies to come to conclusions about the asks; leading teams to develop action plans to resolve issues based on data analyses with collaborations from key stakeholders; evaluating vendor solutions and initial demo set-up; leading the decision-making of new policies that affect members and providers; approving new strategies and implementing long-term and strategic solutions to increase revenue and return-on-investment (ROI), establish project success, and improve member service; approving communication strategies to effectively share information with all stakeholders; managing unit responsible for regional drug therapy conversions; developing processes to assure consistency across regions; and developing and implementing reporting processes and systems for revenue forecasting, business reports, and required regulatory reports.

Requirements

  • Minimum seven (7) years of experience in management, program management, or consulting experience or a directly related field.
  • Doctorate of Pharmacy or equivalent degree (i.e., Bachelors of Pharmacy from a School of Pharmacy) AND completion of a post-graduate year 1 (PGY1) residency program AND minimum three (3) years of experience in pharmacy or a directly related field OR Doctorate of Pharmacy or equivalent degree (i.e., Bachelors of Pharmacy from a School of Pharmacy) AND completion of a post-graduate year 1 (PGY1) residency program and post-graduate year 2 (PGY2) residency program AND minimum one (1) year experience in pharmacy or directly related field OR Doctorate of Pharmacy or equivalent degree (i.e., Bachelors of Pharmacy from a School of Pharmacy) AND minimum five (5) years experience in pharmacy or directly related field.
  • Minimum two (2) years of experience managing operational or project budgets.
  • Minimum five (5) years of experience in a leadership role with direct reports.
  • Pharmacist License (Virginia) within 12 months of hire OR Pharmacist License (District of Columbia) within 12 months of hire OR Pharmacist License (Hawaii) within 12 months of hire OR Pharmacist License (California) within 12 months of hire OR Pharmacist License (Colorado) within 12 months of hire OR Pharmacist License (Oregon) within 12 months of hire OR Pharmacist License (Maryland) within 12 months of hire OR Pharmacist License (Georgia) within 12 months of hire OR Pharmacist License (Washington) within 12 months of hire.
  • Pharmacist License (from any state) required at hire.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares individuals for growth opportunities and advancement; builds internal collaborative networks for self and others.

  • Gains cross-functional support for business plans and priorities; assumes responsibility for decision making; sets standards, measures progress, and fosters resolution of escalated issues.
  • Communicates goals and objectives; analyzes resources, costs, and forecasts and incorporates them into business plans; prioritizes and distributes resources.
  • Removes obstacles that impact performance; guides performance and develops contingency plans accordingly; ensures teams accomplish business objectives.
  • Leads strategic planning to set the direction for the future of patient care strategies to pharmacy and healthcare professionals.
  • Monitors and tracks teams use of analytics and informatics to assess prescription use data and craft strategies and actions plans.
  • Leads in meetings of regional and/or national pharmacy and therapeutics committees to champion support for front-line operations.
  • Sets a leadership tone of strong patient focus mindset across the organization to encourage employees to make decisions that are in the best interest of patients.
  • Creates structures, incentives, and processes in place to encourage these behaviors.
  • Oversees operational activities across the pharmacy landscape and is accountable for setting operational strategies.
  • Coordinates with other team members and senior leaders to ensure proper and effective pharmacy management.
  • Oversees interdisciplinary functions to implement and evaluate pharmacotherapy safety practices and initiatives.
  • Identifies long-term operational needs and develops recommendations for various pharmacy operations initiatives and programs.
  • Leads a holistic set of operational needs (e.g., workflow management, policy management, systems improvement, etc.).
  • Ensures and develops policy compliance standards, and creates a culture that incentives process or system improvements.
  • Contributes to service, affordability, people, quality of care, and regulatory pharmacy goals.
  • Drives the creation, design, and developing guidelines for implementation of the strategic plans.
  • Evaluates industry leading technology and research and develops strategic goals to guide tools and dashboards.
  • Interprets and applies high-impact and complex new laws and rules from regulatory agencies.
  • Establishes requirements of tools to ensure awareness and use.
  • Guides the strategic direction and evolution of accountability dashboards to ensure rules are followed.
  • Designs and guides implementation of key affordability metrics in alignment with enterprise-wide and pharmacy operational goals.
  • Serves as the lead subject matter expert for quality improvement processes and regulations within assigned areas or teams.
  • Provides consultation on the interpretation, interaction, and implementation of current policies, regulations, and legislation.
  • Proactively engages in internal and external committees and projects, and relevant initiatives to implement large scale change and improvements.
  • Manages current procedures and outcomes to align service area activities with organizational performance, quality, and budgetary goals.
  • Identifies barriers to process improvements issues and weighing practical, technical, and KP capability considerations.
  • Advises on policy changes; closely collaborates with senior health care providers to gather relevant sources on potential changes.
  • Tracks and assesses various drug use management metrics and dashboards and follows up to hold others accountable.
  • Creates standards for application strategies to ensure achievement of member financial and therapeutic objectives.
  • Evaluates holistic sets of member data and devises strategic action plans on how to affect change.
