Three Trails Hospital in Independence, MO is actively hiring a Director of Performance Improvement and Risk Management to ensure the hospital’s compliance at all times with all Joint Commission, CMS, and state regulatory agencies standards and requirements. The name Three Trails was selected to honor the historical significance of the city of Independence as the starting point for the Santa Fe, Oregon and California Trails. The logo icon is a compass, which is symbolic of wayfinding, and metaphorically the personal journey to recovery. The Groundbreaking for the new hospital was held in January 2025. Beam topping was held in July 2025. The facility is expected to open in the second half of 2026. Three Trails Behavioral Hospital will: Serve children and adolescents, adults and seniors with innovative and evidence-based inpatient behavioral healthcare focused on individual needs and comfort. Create more than 200 new, full-time jobs including nurses, clinicians, therapists, technicians and administrative staff, when the facility is fully operational. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university required.
  • Four (4) years of experience in quality and risk management/improving organizational performance within an acute medical or psychiatric treatment setting.
  • A strong knowledge of JOINT COMMISSION, state of Missouri standards, CMS standards, and any other applicable federal and state laws and regulations governing mental health care facilities.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s Degree from accredited college or university in nursing, or related health field is preferred.
  • Master’s Degree preferred.
  • Combination of education and experience considered.

Responsibilities

  • Provie staff training and education on the hospital’s performance initiatives and measures including outcomes measurement and reporting.
  • Ensure appropriate and timely reporting of occurrences by maintaining a Healthcare Peer Review Reporting system (Occurrence notification system); enters incidents into the MIDAS Database.
  • Networks with department directors to implement system changes aimed at optimally reducing or eliminating causative factors.
  • Develop and implement a Performance Improvement Plan, evaluate the results monthly and report the results to PI Committee.
  • Ensure that all deficiencies identified through the Performance Improvement analysis are addressed with appropriate problem solving actions.
  • Conducts/facilitates in-services to educate employees and physicians.
