About The Position

The Director of Patient Safety will manage the risk management program at the facility including the functions of clinical risk management, claims management, program development and risk management education for the organization. You will be responsible for coordinating the systems necessary for identification, evaluation, monitoring, reduction and/or elimination of professional and general liability risk exposures. You will provide consultation and education to facility leadership, clinical personnel, board of trustees and medical staff members related to risk exposures including risk prevention and risk reduction. You will be responsible for the department's operational excellence and ensures that the department delivers quality services in accordance with applicable policies, procedures, and professional standards. You will develop, implement, and evaluate ongoing service programs, which ensures quality patient care and quality measures, as well as those health services that include patient issues, safety of the care environment, accessibility, appropriateness, continuity, effectiveness, efficiency, and timeliness of care.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in a healthcare related field required.
  • Minimum of 5 years health care experience (clinical experience preferred).
  • Minimum of 2 years experience in clinical risk management preferred.
  • Supervisory and/or management experience required.
  • Completion of Certified Professional in Patient Safety (CPPS) within the first year of employment required.
  • Completion of Certified Professional in Health Care Risk Management (CPHRM) preferred.
  • Broad knowledge and familiarity with healthcare-related regulatory and accreditation requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the risk management program at the facility.
  • Coordinate systems for identification, evaluation, monitoring, reduction and/or elimination of risk exposures.
  • Provide consultation and education to facility leadership and clinical personnel regarding risk exposures.
  • Ensure operational excellence of the department and quality service delivery.
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate ongoing service programs for quality patient care.
