About The Position

This role sits at the intersection of finance and manufacturing. Where cost, inventory, and operational execution meet reality. The Director of Operational Finance owns the integrity, clarity, and strategic use of operational financial data across the organization. This role leads managerial and cost accounting while partnering closely with manufacturing and supply chain leadership to translate cost structure, inventory, and performance data into decisions that improve margins, capital efficiency, and operational execution. This is not a corporate reporting, tax, or ERP transformation role. The Director of Operational Finance is embedded in the business, working directly with manufacturing and supply chain leaders to improve operational performance. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA, CMA, or Master’s degree preferred but not required.
  • 8+ years of progressive experience in cost and managerial accounting within manufacturing or operations-driven environments, including 5+ years leading teams.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing accounting, product costing, GAAP, and operational finance processes.
  • Proficiency in Excel and experience with ERP systems (Oracle or similar preferred).
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and business partnership skills.
  • Demonstrated integrity, credibility, and alignment with company mission and values.

Nice To Haves

  • CPA, CMA, or Master’s degree preferred but not required.
  • Experience with ERP systems (Oracle or similar preferred).

Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop the Operational Finance team, ensuring strong performance, capability-building, and succession planning.
  • Oversee product costing and inventory valuation, ensuring accuracy, compliance with GAAP, and alignment with company policies.
  • Maintain and strengthen internal controls related to cost accounting and operational financial processes.
  • Drive cost reduction and efficiency initiatives, identifying, analyzing, and executing improvement opportunities that enhance profitability.
  • Provide managerial accounting insights, including asset utilization, ROI analysis, and performance metrics to support operational excellence.
  • Deliver timely financial and nonfinancial reporting that supports decision making, forecasting, goal setting, and strategic planning.
  • Partner with manufacturing, supply chain, and operations leadership to evaluate financial performance and support process and cost improvements.
  • Support costing for new product development, including accurate cost models, scenario analyses, and profitability assessments.
  • Ensure operational financial data integrity, improving processes, documentation, and systems that strengthen reporting quality.
  • Communicate operational financial outcomes and recommendations to leadership to support informed operational and strategic decisions.
