Job Description Position Overview US Bank is seeking a visionary Software Engineering Director to lead the transformation of our Operations Data Management function. This executive will architect and execute a data strategy that supports our core operational needs, with a primary focus on optimizing the organization’s data footprint—streamlining, consolidating, and eliminating redundancies across all operational data assets. A key responsibility will be guiding migration from legacy systems to advanced, secure, and scalable cloud-based platforms. The role is responsible for delivering robust data solutions that enable operational excellence, regulatory compliance, and customer-centric insights.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent work experience
  • 10 or more years of relevant software engineering experience
  • Six or more years of experience leading multiple software engineering teams.

Nice To Haves

  • Advanced degree in computer science, data science, information management, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of senior data leadership experience within financial services, with a focus on large-scale banking operations and critical operational data needs.
  • Proven success in leading legacy-to-cloud platform migrations (Snowflake on AWS, Databricks on Azure) and implementing advanced analytics solutions.
  • Deep expertise in data governance, privacy, security, and operational risk management in regulated environments.
  • Exceptional communication, stakeholder management, and cross-functional leadership skills, with a track record of aligning data strategy to business priorities and inspiring teams through transformation.
  • Visionary, innovative mindset with strong analytical and strategic thinking, focused on operational effectiveness and customer value.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and optimize teams responsible for Data Strategy & Architecture and Data Management & Implementation, including future offshore expansion.
  • Develop and execute a data strategy that supports all core operations, ensuring reliable, actionable data for business needs.
  • Drive migration from legacy systems to modern cloud platforms (Snowflake on AWS, Databricks on Azure).
  • Champion an agile, iterative approach to data delivery—prioritizing execution and continuous improvement over perfection.
  • Implement strong data governance, security, and compliance practices.
  • Foster innovation by adopting new technologies, including AI accelerators and advanced analytics.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to align data initiatives with business objectives and support organizational change.
