About The Position

The Director of Nutrition Services is responsible for managing the school district's child nutrition program, ensuring compliance with policies and regulations, and maintaining high standards of food quality and safety. This role involves overseeing kitchen operations, managing staff, and fostering relationships with clients and stakeholders to promote a positive meal program experience.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required; transcript must be presented upon hire.
  • Minimum of three years of relevant food service experience or one year with an associate's degree.
  • Minimum one year in a customer service/hospitality role.
  • Working knowledge of kitchen functions and equipment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Effective communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Ability to perform basic math operations and adjust recipes as needed.
  • Minimum one year of supervisory experience preferred.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a school nutrition program.
  • Knowledge of HACCP processes and procedures.
  • Experience with automated systems for food service management.

Responsibilities

  • Observe and ensure seamless execution of daily production in kitchens.
  • Ensure accurate production records and compliance with meal patterns.
  • Monitor food quality, safety protocols, and cleanliness in kitchens.
  • Promote excellent customer service and resolve food quality complaints.
  • Coordinate meal preparation and transportation to satellite buildings.
  • Ensure compliance with Opaa! recipes and menu plans.
  • Conduct weekly meetings with Kitchen Managers and daily staff huddles.
  • Manage staff performance, hiring, onboarding, and training.
  • Ensure compliance with HR policies and federal labor laws.
  • Establish and maintain communication with clients and stakeholders.
  • Prepare monthly status reports for the Board of Education.
  • Manage food and labor costs according to established budgets.
  • Complete end-of-week paperwork and maintain inventory levels.
